Episode 59: They Shot Winnie the Pooh! (The War Games - Episodes 1-5)

from Doctor Who: Watchers in the Fourth Dimension · host Anthony Williams, Don Smith, Julie Filipek, Reilly Schreck

The end is nigh for the Second Doctor as the TARDIS crew arrive in what appears to be World War One, but not all is as it seems… Continuing our journey through all of Doctor Who, we discuss the first half of the absolute epic that is The War Games, as we start preparing to bid farewell to some familiar faces…   During the episode, Reilly finds himself disappointed by the fact that Doctor von Werr doesn’t make one last return, Anthony gets to use his history degrees, Don sets a new record in how quickly he derails the conversation, and Julie gets exasperated at everyone else’s constant digressions. The entire crew discusses the commentary that this story provides on the entire Troughton era.   For those of you who want to watch this along with us, this story is available on DVD from both Amazon US (https://amzn.to/3vfClz1) and Amazon UK (https://amzn.to/3vbOW6m), as well as through the BritBox streaming service in both the US (http://www.britbox.com/) and the UK (http://www.britbox.co.uk/).   Other media mentioned in this episode: Oh!
