Episode 6: Bond, bogus clubs, WHS and my Houston Open preview

from Par 5 Golf Podcast: Andy's Golf Blog · host andy todd

In this week's podcast, I discuss the very recent and sad passing of the legendary Scottish James Bond actor, Sean Connery. In particular, I delve deeper into his love affair with golf which began when he took up the sport in preparation for his golfing scenes in the 1964 film, Goldfinger. I also discuss the problems with buying golf clubs from the likes of eBay, Facebook and Gumtree, especially counterfeit clubs. Fear not, I'll share my top tips for spotting a fake club should you decide to go down the second-hand market route. England is heading for another lockdown and golf is firmly off the menu, but the new World Handicap System (WHS) was served up on Monday (2nd November). Find out a little more about how my handicap has changed and the video from @OpenStanceGolf you really should watch if you've still not gotten your head around it. I'll take a look back at last week's Cyprus Open on the European Tour where Callum Shinkwin picked up his first European Tour title and I'll look ahead to this week's Houston Open - the PGA Tour's final stop before the rescheduled Masters.
