Episode 6: Doug Van Pelt on Christian Rock and Metal, Downton Abbey: a socialist review

from Beer Christianity · host Beer Christianity

Downton Abbey. Great series. Movie tho: bourgeois propaganda. So this episode features a seven minute rant about why it's ideologically enraging. Fun tho!  CONTAINS SO MANY SPOILERS. Also: ever wanted to understand the Christian Rock and Metal scenes? Start here >>> Doug Van Pelt founded legendary Christian Metal mag Heaven's Metal in 1985. It later became HM magazine and covered some of the most interesting Christian music ever made. This interview is from around 2006 (probably!) and gives a great history of Christian rock and the scene at the time.  You can follow Doug at @Dooglar on Twitter.  Christian Metal and Rock have changed a lot since then, so I recommend checking out Norma Jean's Landslide Defeater and  and The Devil Wears Prada's Chemical for a taste of what great hard music made by Christians is sounding like currently.  This podcast was fueled by Cape Point lager.  Follow Beer Christianity on Twitter: @beerxianity and find us on
