Episode 6 - Motherhood and stillbirth with Sarah Kearns

from The Nurtured Village Podcast · host Emma Gray

In 2012 Sarah and Brad Kearns lost their son Buddy who was born still at 28 weeks. Sarah joins Kaitlyn and I on Episode 6 of the podcast to speak about motherhood and still birth, navigating marriage and how they have used their experience of extreme grief and loss to raise money for the Bears of Hope Cuddle Cots campaign to give the gift of time to the 1500 families who experience stillbirth in Australia every year. A cot to give time for families with their baby to grieve and take their time to try to say goodbye.Their first was placed just last week in a hospital close to their home and literally overnight they reached $13,000 to place a second cuddle cot in another maternity ward in Australia. Each day in Australia, six babies are stillborn and a further three babies die each day before their first birthday. These figures do not include the precious babies who are stillborn before 20 weeks gestation. All of these families should have access to a cuddle cot. You can donate directly to bears of hope through their go fund me page or buy team dad mums Buddy packs where $20 from every bag sold goes directly to Bears of Hope. We do not underestimate the importance of individuals sharing their experience with stillbirth as it is the tragic reality for so many people who may feel like they are navigating the journey alone and we thank Sarah for sharing her journey in hope that it helps other parents. https://stillaware.org/https://rednose.org.au/https://www.sands.org.au/https://dadmumlife.com/blogs/team-dadmumhttps://cuddlecot.gofundraise.com.au/page/TEAMDADMUMhttps://heartfelt.org.auhttps://www.bearsofhope.org.au
