Where do we go when we die? And what if we could go there and then come back to tell about it? For Elizabeth Johnson Rice, a prominent 1960's social activist, her brush with death left her forever changed and set her on a mission which she is still pursuing today at the age of 80.

Second Chance is written by Wells Hanley and is sung by René Marie. Wells Hanley, piano; Randall Pharr, bass; Billy Williams, drums. Engineered, mixed, and mastered by Curtis Fye.

Second Chance
Music and Lyrics by Wells Hanley ©2022

Look who's got a second chance,

I'm back on the ground from the great expanse.

I took a dive, but I've got a second chance.

I just landed my lucky break,

got the band back together for another take.

I was "ciao", but now I'm wide awake.

I let my life go completely

receding to a far away shore.

Now I've returned so sweetly,

back in the flesh, and ready for more.

I can feel my feet, I can sing and dance,

I've returned to wearin' my shirt and pants,

I've got a second chance.

And I'm carrying a jewel,

and I don't wanna drop it,

I would be such a foo-el

if I should ever stop making the most of this second chance!

My days were numbered, I lumbered,

feeling so encumbered by fate,

but having dozed and slumbered,

I'm back in the race, and I'm feeling great...

There's a tear somewhere in the grand design

that I should have crossed that finish line

and kept on running, Lord how I feel so fine!

Now I have got another shot,

I've entered a bonus round, and I would never have thought

there could exist this delicious twist in the plot...

The curtain was closed, and the show was done,

but the producer introduced an extended run.

We made a pact, and now another act has begun.

The show keeps going and going,

I know it's gonna grow and thrive.

I'm overflowing just owing

to being alive!

I am gonna survive...

I'm living up my second chance,

I'm gonna work this perk in my circumstance.

I was revived, and I survived,

my day has arrived, I'm gonna thrive,

and I'm still alive cause I've got a second chance...

...and I know I never want to lose my second chance!

Show Me Where They Touched You...Again Skatenigs Volume 2 of the Classics!Liner notes:Show me where they touched you...againLoudspeaker- Our first video track with Wax Trax Records. Shut up and Listen! A brash assault on the powers that want to choke us out with the proverbial knee to the neck. We retaliate with our unrelenting and everlasting voices demanding our freedom of speech.PoundSauce- Like someone on a rampage, a drinking anthem that could be our dark take on "Fight for your Right to Party"? This song is simple and minimal with the power and intention of a bull in a china shop. To this day, we love playing this song. This was one of the first original 6 songs that we wrote to open up for Ministry on the Land of Rape and Honey tour, our live debut.I got it made- Another one of those original 6 songs and no one has written one like it since. We enjoyed this song being on "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre...the next generation." The scene where Matthew McConaughey is driving the tow-truck over and over his victim makes for the per The Donald Schulz Project The Donald Schulz Project Years ago I release some of my music under the name of "Thunderfoot" This was my own invention made up of hired musicians and friends playing my songs and arrangements. The reality of this song and dance was just to keep the attention away from me. I have always enjoyed producing but similar to the Allan Parsons Project he and his partner were frustrated with dealing with difficult artists. What if we could put together the people that are right for a particular song and produce this with our original thoughts behind the song when we wrote it. That is what I did when I released under the name of Thunderfoot and now I will begin to release those same kind of productions under the name of The Donald Schulz Project. I am coming out of the closet sort of speak. Hope you enjoy some of the things that I put out here. Show Me Where They Touched You Skatenigs Volume One of Skatenigs Classics!Liner Notes:Chemical imbalance- The first Skatenigs track to be recorded. We recorded live at Trax studio in Chicago under the direction of Al Jourgensen. Lorri Jackson wrote the prologue and performed it the next day. Al worked his magic. Jim and Danny at Wax Trax records loved it and the rest is history.Shit Authority- This was the first track the band had ever written. It started with a 2 Live Crew beat, a punk riff and a general disdain for authority.Horny for Evil- Al and I had joked around during Beers, Steers and Queers session about writing a song about how many lives are murdered with each ejaculation and there you have it. The phone call intro was Phildo calling from studio B to studio A at Trax studio. Critter took the call and recorded it. By the way, stupid people really shouldn’t breed.Passion for Destruction- One of the first songs written for the sophomore release What a Mangled Web We Leave. Inspired by the band mascot, a pit bull How did you write that song? Paul Marsh Not only rock stars write songs. Lots of people with busy lives do it. In this podcast I'll have discussions with people who write songs about how they do it, why they do it and the things songwriting has done for them. In each episode we'll discuss and play an original song by the featured songwriter and get right down into how that song came to be. Relevant resources and links to things we've discussed will be included in the episode notes. If you write songs, or would like to write songs but haven't started yet, this podcast could be for you.Look forward to connecting with you, Paul.
