Episode 6: The state of the courts and ethical lettings

from Listen Up Landlords podcast

In this month's episode of Listen Up Landlords we look at the state of the courts as Covid-19 restrictions are eased and talk ethical lettings with landlord Lorraine Thomas.  Presenter Richard Blanco (@richardblanco) talks to guest Paul Shamplina, founder of evictions specialist Landlord Action about what can be seen happening in the courts as restrictions are lifted and repossessions can begin again.  Elsewhere in the show Catherine Behdad, of the NRLA advice team talks about the hot topics on the phonelines throughout the month.  For the final portion of the show we are joined by landlord Lorraine Thomas.  Lorraine fell into property after leaving a job in the city to care for her sick father. After picking up an email – which had, in fact, been sent to her by mistake – she started a job sourcing rental accommodation for youngsters leaving care.  From there she built her own business as a landlord, investor, developer and mentor, while ensuring her business remained true to its ethical roots and retains a strong social element.  If you enjoyed the show please spread the word on your social media channels using the hashtag #listenuplandlords . For all podcast enquiries email [email protected]    NRLA membership costs from just £75 a year and includes a host of benefits including unlimited expert advice, a comprehensive suite of free documents and guides and exclusive member discounts, including 10% off at B&Q. As a certified bailiff he acted for landlords across the country. He is the recognised expert and is often featured on TV, radio and in the press.  Lorraine Thomas  Lorraine took a leap from a successful career in business development for the legal sector to property development for herself. Over half of the investment property that Lorraine is renovating at present has a social element attached to it. She is a strong believer in helping young disadvantaged adults get on the ladder and have a decent place to live. Lorraine with her business partner focuses part of her business on renting solely to young people at an affordable rent to give them a start.
