And welcome to another Detroit City FC fan cast special well that happened edition I am John Rosina here with Sean Logan Hey everyone Dean is unfortunately out of time and won't be joining us this week he's gonna be recording a special spot for us though we are here at the mothership of Motor City Brewing Works, we're running our sorrows we'd like to make a special dedication as always in this episode we'd like to dedicate this to the kids who played bubble soccer at halftime of the city stars match this past week not only were they the best team from that organization on the field we'd like to win some the best of luck as youth who are involved in the stars organization it's good to see you kids not run really fast if you don't like that opinion as if you don't like any of our opinions they are ours they're not those with an over guard or Detroit City FC or anybody else like that so playing us and them and we will be back and we're back and because we have to here's Sean that talked about the past week all right the first game last weekend was Erie Commodores at Detroit City it was obviously a 3 to 2 loss so I take some time to discuss that first first order of business is William Miller's Blair yet again incredible score two goals just was huge threat to Erie all night I thought he was the biggest threat we had Erie did really good in the midfield though like they put on some pretty extended pressure unfortunately that led to two own goals so that 3-2 lost two own goals and a miss penalty kick you can do the math on how that could have turned out I mean that being said you know me Danny mod I mean he had some really nice place he did he played very very well I thought unfortunately because he likes to talk a little trash on Twitter with some of our supporters I haven't seen anything after this game I didn't see a thing on Twitter I didn't see this but I was told by more than one person that he sort of came over to the center of the stands after the match to I think look at some of the people that he sort of knows by sight and said something of the effect of I don't know if you heard on here in the second hand of you know you guys are great for the league you guys are you know great for your team a lot of respect and then you flipped us the words and said no go fuck yourselves which you know whatever you want their play and they came over and then they clap us up and they didn't see my run against him like actual respect for their players so I'm sure we flipped him enough birds that one is not going to even put a dent in it no but yeah he played he played a really good game he obviously had the penalty kicks safe but he saved a couple of other really dangerous chances to and I don't know Erie just seemed to they seem to switch their midfields and forward around a lot they had a lot of rotation going on but they were putting all kinds of pressure on especially the end of the first half sort of the second half yeah I mean the on speaking of goal is having a good game Alex Gley like I thought played really damn well and even though it was three goals yeah I mean it wasn't really anything that I looked at and thought I mean you should have had that I thought you know defense such as I've done in all three I don't know what your video is on that well yeah I mean the two own goals really if you're a goalkeeper and there's an own goal most of time you're just hung out to dry you're already moving to somewhere else and your own player to flex it there's not much you can do about that it's just unfortunate but the third goal was a pretty long-range blast that dipped under the bar it was down the center I don't know if he could have gotten up and tipped it maybe but it was it was a really good shot I've watching him I didn't get a chance to watch the match over yet did they really said yet I haven't seen it I mean maybe it's I don't boss somewhere that you're not there they can't bring themselves people say it for Halloween or something knows maybe but yeah so I didn't get a chance to watch back and see exactly what happened but it seemed like maybe thought it was going over or who wasn't sure but it had a lot of dip at the end of the shot I thought we sort of really miss David Edderson middle during that game he definitely put a lot of pressure on through the middle and I mean back to the own goals again it does own goals don't happen if he wasn't putting on pressure if they weren't playing well they did play a very good game I thought they that was probably that has to have been the best game they played all season they've been I mean you've talked about them being you know my polar all season either they've been terrible or they played well they've been lower in the middle and be unfortunate they always play as well I guess of the four losses that Detroit City has had between 2012 and 2015 and NPSL play regular season to play offs at Cass three of the four were the hands beery which is insane yeah some reason like I said last week Erie is just a bogey team for whatever reason they always seem to play us tight even if they don't win last year they tied us at Cass so somehow they play really well there I don't know if it's that they get really fired up by the environment that they don't get the plan all that often they just play the best game of their lives or at least of season since it keeps seeming to do it over and over again but or something about the field fits their style of play I think that's partly it too they play very quick and direct whereas they don't spend a whole lot of time wasting the fancy passing sort of how you can play on a field that says won't be at times as cast tech but they just seem to keep keep getting it done somehow I mean well you know credit to them they beat City Fair and swear it wasn't I mean it wasn't poorly refereeed it was no sort of no real you could say that we got screwed I mean we got beat no real controversy just it happens unfortunately and all right so let's move on to the stars game away at Wysner Stadium first time I've ever been to that stadium there in a different stadium last year record that and I'll just replay that in next year or the year after that yeah there's been to move around a lot the game went really well the first half there was some good chances on both end Joshua Rogers played keeper at one point not literally keeper but yeah to one headed away at the goal line yeah yeah goal line clearance and he saved one more that was going well but we also put some good opportunities on the first half first half was four lists second half we sort of took over I thought obviously were the first one and then said Harris put a header in for the second goal and it ended up to nothing and it's really encouraging in a way some brought out some players who haven't played much this season got to see them and it really sort of spoke to the depth I think yeah you know Ross Andrew got his first start Bobby Budlong his first start we saw it was nice to see I mean apart from the fact that hobbies a great guy and we were like personally excited for him to come back and have that experience and to be able to be a man of the match and from a human perspective and from a sports perspective it was nice to sort of feel like okay well with well Miller's Blair having made it official that the Erie matches his last one for City that we've got sort of that dangerous quick offensive guy that our style of play sort of requires that hobby came back I mean literally couldn't have been I mean he came in for the last 10 minutes or so of the year you mentioned man him W of the top fed been able to happen more often the season we're gonna know something goes in this world I would have I would have been very interested to see that during the season but fortunately wasn't meant to be but as far as I've been coming back I've been pleasantly encouraged by how quickly he sort of gotten back into it I mean he had only 10 minutes in the Erie game and then he came out and started the Stars game play the whole thing played pretty I think the whole thing I don't think I saw him come off I mean he's he played at least 80 something I know but he um he uh I don't know that that I felt like he was at full full speed I mean we didn't get to really get to know him before he went down it was a ski gun I think um he went down in like the 20 something minute Cleveland game he played the he played the mesquite game and then he played the start of the Cleveland game and he injured himself and was pulled out like the 20 something in it but you know I don't know that I have a real eye for him but it certainly seemed like he might have been slightly slower than I remember being for the Stars but I mean I mean he's been out for weeks with a knee injury you can't really expect someone who's just coming back from an injury to jump straight into it and be quite as fast quite as quick as they were before they got injured it's just an injury you can't really work out your legs during that entire time you're out until you start coming back but he still seems to have that knack for making the right runs he had a really incredible looking scissor kick attempt that nearly went in and I'm happy we have video that thanks to Kelly there was Hoppola for that I gotta say that the the maybe the best thing about having a heavy back is that nobody's not sitting around in the couch board all day he's not gonna have more experiments with his hair if you listen we love you but that's I don't know I like it I'm not the target audience I guess I'm a bit younger I'm more more with it than you are John so yeah another week of training under his belt though I think that he'll be looking good for playoffs that's encouraging definitely and it was a supporters perspective it was a fun match I mean that stadium if they could clone that stadium and put it into trade all the systems of these off it really was a nice facility for the level we're playing at I mean it's an old concrete facility but it's got a lot of space it's not in disrepair really I mean some of the paints flucking off some places but it's it's you're right on top of the you're right on top of the action I guess it's got those nice brutal concrete echoes that we had fun with yeah there were that were our stadium it would be louder than cast just get in the construction I would I would love something like that or something even a little bit bigger I mean it's a little bit bigger than cast but I mean I don't need anything fancy I would say I'm just giving me something durable and concrete and in Detroit or something yeah effectively Detroit and we'll make the experience I mean you see what we've been able to do out of a high school field with the metal bleachers like it doesn't matter all that much doesn't have to be anything fancy yeah that was that was fun we had plenty of space and for those who didn't see any of the photos or whatever in lieu of clubbing upper touches we stretched I mean virtually the one line of Tetris virtually the entire length of the field the fair length of the field there weren't the stands were not falling the other side of the field weren't falling our side of the field either but there's a way game and the couple time or I think it was on the ones drew and Ryan went over and we're doing a cross-adium chant through their bull horns just the two of them and then three of the DCFC owners like stood up and we're doing it with them from the other side it was just funny moment fairly some kid was living off to them and that's when I was scored I think yeah yeah yeah but also funny for that I was a bubble soccer that you mentioned earlier these kids playing bubble soccer during the half I don't know why one team had one kid and he was playing goalie that wasn't in a bubble but I thought I was cheating yeah the team that one team had no goal team 19 team had a kid I was in not in a bubble playing goal that was like well yeah of course you're not gonna score a kid is not in a bubble yeah I think I think the one team might have been a year older so they like tried to give him a handicap or something but the kid the bubbles were slowing the kids down so much that it just wasn't even very good score on them but there wasn't really much soccer being played if we're being honest they were mostly running into each other and doing flips on the other end of the field from where the ball was yeah we they were starting to do Tetris and we did Tetris the first time said Captain Jack over saying hey if you come join us and they're like basically no we're being ironic and mocking you you know we don't like your game all right all right I kept all those kids yeah they kept starting let's go start his chance over and over and over again they had no other chance to be fair they were like 11 but a little variety you could steal so far so get him a 15 or 4 right we had that killed at Kensky and playing drums and on the bullhorn they would be more variety and their chance and drums than these tickets were I think the other funniest part of the game was the stadium announcements that came on told us not to use any profanity or vulgarity I didn't hear that they said they said I said not to use any profanity or vulgarity I'm not what is the difference between profanity and vulgarity though like why do they feel the need to specify both of them that's the profanity is technically I think it's like God's name and name and vollinary is just like bad words because you know we're feeding I mean I don't know I don't know dictionary that ever that I'm not sure we have any percent that's next week's ex-podgering don't know the answer on what using God's name and vain actually is but so well I mean that's I mean unfortunately that's awesome it didn't ask you things to the fact that now we don't get playoffs at cats now we have to do a medicine we'll talk about that in a bit but and you're in thoughts a week I guess last thing to mention is we still don't know who the fourth playoff team is gonna be it's an ongoing saga hashtag npso life going to be either Buffalo or Indiana Fire obviously first medicine second Detroit City third Cleveland so Detroit City's gonna play Cleveland official that we're second Cleveland's third I believe when we're saying that they were second we were third baseball shit okay yeah I mean I've seen multiple teams using this set of tiebreakers and the league's been using them all year it's just one one guy from Cleveland trying to say that the tiebreakers are wrong but yeah the fourth team is don't know who that's gonna be because Indiana Firehead a game that's is was lightning down against Miss so United reserves and they've been trying to reschedule that to get it played and they haven't been able to do it Indiana Fire needs to either win or draw that game and they will be the fourth playoff team if they lose it it's gonna be FC Buffalo who by the way has four players on red card suspension right now so I don't know how effective they would be in the keeper including their keeper I don't know how effective they would be in the playoffs if they were to make it so the story Minister United reserves haven't said much about this they don't say much of anything really if we're being honest on social media and Indiana Fire has been saying some stuff about it on their Facebook page also say yeah at least else at least their fans have actually their official account was saying some stuff today you know their owners whether or not making someone yeah yeah it's all chemistry and or I'll consider yeah they're going to go back and for a chat of who against was throwing his two cents in and apparently some off Buffalo's owner yeah they got that that went on that conversation I was getting a notification from that that went off on a tangent like it started to talk about how the teams are scheduled as far as distances between the teams are and yeah it got it got really unrelated but they've been trying to reschedule this game and from what Indiana Fire has been saying it sounds like they have been willing to go out of their way they've been it's three hours from Indiana from Indianapolis to Chicago they've been willing to go to Chicago to get this game played like certain Minnesota's a little slight they they have a home game like it's their right to have the home game but they were willing to travel to Chicago to get this game played and that was supposed to happen as we're recording it right now this game is supposed to be going on earlier today they suddenly went we guess it's canceled the game might be played tomorrow but we're not sure so as of right now as we're recording we don't know if the game's gonna be played if it isn't played it's probably gonna go down as a Minnesota any reserves forfeit which there are fines associated with several thousand dollars worth and Indiana Fire will get the three points the concern I guess with Minnesota or United Reserve's it's a midweek game short notice they are theoretically supposed to if their season is supposed to have finished and they're having trouble kidding enough players I guess to play the game is my assumption from a couple of things that Indiana has insinuated but really just sort of an unfortunate situation that's right it's a big and actual reserves to a professional team yeah they're they're really functioning more as a whole bunch of amateurs I mean they're which I think I mentioned this on the last decision last time like what the hell how do you how much is what reserves to a professional game yeah getting sued for I mean I know some of the players who have been playing regularly for the reserves have made appearances for the Minnesota United team this year but they might be doing it as unpaid players I don't know how that's working exactly but they are having trouble getting enough players they only brought 12 players Lansing so they were having trouble traveling like to schedule games earlier this year so I mean it's yeah we're back to again hashtag and PSO life so enough about that we will be back in a bit and this is what I say in here with what's going on in and around the community even the club is Dean but Dean is off in California and so Sean I have to try to carry this on ourselves one of the first things is we're recording this on Tuesday night tomorrow is the final match of the season and there's been times in the past of the club sort of snuck out a surprise friendly but as of right now it's the last match of the season to cast on the winter stars or always a fun time because a lot of us are guessing they don't go chance one of the things that's cool about doing this time is sort of continuing on with their experience of trying to do good stuff for kids playing sports in the city is they're doing a donation program where if you bring your gently used and still functional soccer equipment kits and the like you get the I think you know really getting that's a water bottle right I think there's a water bottle I think Flagstar is doing that is involved in this credit to Flagstar again for another cool tie in these two and then the Colonial Union so I think I think what's happening with these is you can bring in like jerseys or like old used kids soccer cleats or shin guards or whatever you don't need anymore that are still usable and then they're gonna basically redistribute them to like lower income kids who need gear essentially to play so I think it's a good thing it's helping out families that are in need get them some organized sports gear and at the same time it's promoting the sport in the city is another good outcome from it yeah no it's so it's it hits all the right buttons for me good job in the job city good job to Flagstar for supporting the safe that we said nice things about them in the beginning and since but they've really been a nice job to see the fun and being a real quality sponsor and doing this stuff or stuff on social media is awesome bit about match day with the skull tie and the DCFC bandana polka pocket is pretty awesome it's just really to see official bank of the city of sea on things I want to see them doing those photo shoots for like the tie or like when they're wearing the shoes they're the dress shoes and the soccer socks and stuff I want to see them doing those like in their office probably was just sitting in their office in a cube environment probably the one other thing that's sort of going on is that there's been somebody and I don't have it up so I don't know what their username was or whatever but to put up a thing on Reddit basically and y'all can look it's just if you do Reddit Reddit are the trade city FC the DCFC cent Reddit the details aren't really material but basically the thing was you know I got slammed on from people who were sort of Northern guard shirts playing in the garden I was supporting right I was supporting hard enough you know I was getting calls from the public things or whatever it's just basically like bad experience not the kind of experience that anybody really wants to see in those bands and I think that there was an expectation from this person that they were gonna get jumped on by other members of the Northern guard for sort of daring to complain about this and if you go and look at the thread I'm actually really proud so that the the response from pretty much everybody from Sergeant Scaryon down was that's not right that's not acceptable you've got the right to have the good experience you've got the right to support your own way I mean if you don't want a chance you want to be your own chance or whatever then that's you know goes someplace you know like on the side of the other side we're not expected to be part of the the sort of live coordinated stuff with the drums and songs but the the big deal was that just because someone's wearing a Northern doward shirt or has a Northern guard scarf doesn't give them the right to to beat on other people for how they're doing it and it doesn't give them sort of the backing of the other Northern bars so again I'm speaking of myself I'm not speaking for the Northern guard here but it doesn't you know the consensus seem to be that no if you're gonna wear that shirt you can wear that scarf you have this actually higher expectations for you than some random person might not know any better or some bro do to end up in a section by accident right because then it's reflecting on the entire organization which has some background Northern guard prides themselves on not having any requirements to join or anything there's no membership fees or anything basically it's a you say you're part of the Northern guard you are but they do hold people to certain standards which are most of them are listed on the sign as you walk into the section which is no homophobic comments no sexist comments no racist comments and then some general outlines as far as the open flames which would flares that made an appearance in the first season and haven't been seen since you know you're expected to stand your expected to stand there's gonna be chances gonna be smoke people were complaining about the smoke and block views there's gonna be black views in this in that section one interesting piece that came out of this which I hadn't heard by saw this was that you know we weren't in unexpected situation at the end of the year match which was we were down we are not used to being down at the end of the match only the final five minutes at worst were tied and usually were ahead and sort of the the apocalyptic 85th minute snow screaming going to the final whistle blows is a good thing I've heard from players that that credit did at least some credit for the starting match this season Cleveland when with Sam's head and that the Cleveland was so discombobulated that they didn't park him to get free that apparently the team I think it was even Caesar sort of came and said you know hey from now on if we're down in the 85th like it's not you know he loud but don't fire off the smoke because it gets in the way of us coordinating and scoring that's a bad thing so I think that if that's a situation we end up in the future just be aware that that's how things are gonna go to be in the future just a behavior and that's a little quest of the team and obviously there's no never any desire to do anything to get away at the game it's completely higher. Right I mean it's all a learning experience I mean in the grand scheme of things we're still only four years into this we'll experiment we only get three months a year to work on it's we don't have a very long season too many games we're kind of only six or seven home games a year. Yeah and I think it's probably you know good problems they have to be in the final home match of the fourth season before you find out that it sucks to be down at home. Right right and to some extent such problems being caused as far as like overcrowding and stands and stuff which is another good problem to have it just speaks to the big growth of the club over the last couple years that now we're worried about like being too crowded where we never had before and it does cause issues but at the same time I wouldn't have any other way I don't want this club to stop growing I love that about this great to be part of something that's and we see I mean looking down 96 Lansing but you can't assume that growth will continue and we've talked in past episodes about the hard work that goes into all the things that you know keep the game day experience going and TFO and smoke and I mean all the smoke it's funded by the merch sales and all the merch sales are managed by the people who put in a hell of a lot of time creating this stuff and then money up front the buy it I mean there's a whole mechanism behind all of this stuff that makes it work so dancing you know they saw the big big growth and they thought that that was gonna happen forever and ever and it didn't regardless I think that big takeaways from the reddit threaded credit to the person who posted even if they were expecting a flame I'm glad they did it's to clarify that that nobody's in violet nobody's above being called out of their behavior isn't acceptable to you and just because somebody's wearing the colors doesn't mean that everybody's gonna have their back and it's just in the piker gang you know all else fails to go to the capos and I guarantee that that anybody who's sort of in the court with them in the capos like our folks were you know rankling flags or whatever that they will listen to any issues that you've got and I always agree with at least they're gonna listen to that they're all just for personal experience they're all good folks they are they're every single one of them is good people and they're gonna listen to you and now with this week's Ask Padre recorded from some hotel room in Anaheim California it's Dean hey everybody this is Padre coming to you from Anaheim California mother superior and I are out here this week and we apologize that we can join you for the episode so this week we're gonna look at the Ask Padre question and that is where does the name short to come from as we've been we've played with the machine stars twice in the last week or so and that's a common turn they get thrown around in the supporter section you know one of our put downs for that club and why where did that come to be so I got some good background information for sergeant scary to help me fill out the narrative to make sure I explain this the correct way so hang tight this is gonna take a couple minutes but I think I think many people will learn something so you were called DCFC's first season was 2012 we had a pretty good and successful campaign that year never had fewer than a thousand people in the stands of cast didn't win didn't make a long playoff run something like that but we had a good successful first season a lot of people that caught their eye and they kind of want to do the co-tail approach and they continue to do that club up 96 about an hour and a half away so shortly after the 2012 season and kind of in that fall this group out of Windsor the Windsor Spartans soccer Academy over Windsor Ontario just south of Detroit they saw how successfully were they decided that they wanted to start an NPSL club to rival the success of DCFC and filter players through their academy system that they had so they went with the other team in Detroit mantra and they couldn't find a place to play in Detroit which is interesting and they just they ended up playing in Berkeley those of you that have been to any of the DCFC preseason matches you know the field that I'm talking about that was their home field in 2013 what was their name at first very beginning and this has to be one of the worst marketing campaigns ever they decided to be the FC Michigan Spartans apparently merging the two largest public universities in the state of Michigan into their own amateur soccer club name didn't work out everybody mocked them to death so then they switched names Sarge says that they switched five or six times what they ended up with was either FC Sparta Michigan or FC Sparta they use both so instead of Sparta we already had this pretty negative view of them wanting to make you know a shit reference we went with Sharda right instead of Sparta real clever on our parts and from day one that's how we refer to that club they were horrible to us TSA level Pat Downs at Berkeley the first match we played against them in 2013 their offices were in Canada that whole time the whole year so they were definitely parachuting and in trying to just take advantage of what DCFC had built and somehow think that they were gonna generate that level of success as well why does that have anything to do with Michigan stars well at the end of the season and it does their team they were like unbelievably broke you know they were spending money and making none they were averaging well under a hundred people a game if they even get that many ever and so they were sold they put up for sale I see smarto Michigan the NPSL club was sold and bought by the guy that owns the Dearborn Stars which is the soccer club over in Dearborn and they have multiple levels Academy type stuff and indoor team and things of that nature so he bought or merged Sparta into the Dearborn Stars so then the NPSL club became known as the Michigan Stars and FC Sparta had a terrible track record of a credibility of honesty of integrity things like that good news so did the Dearborn Stars there was a game and we can explain this in some other depth some other time where they agreed to play a game somewhere play the game lost the game then appealed the game because the field was too narrow according to standards won the appeal and then the other team was forced to forfeit because they couldn't travel so I believe we would call that Cheetah win if I'm not mistaken so these clubs were in a weird sense made for each other Sparta and the Stars so we kind of saw through the new marketing campaign all that kind of stuff we still kept the shardah name for them because same old shit right new jerseys new name new location fun fact in three seasons they played in three zip codes 2013 FC Sparta played in Berkeley 2014 after the Dearborn Stars bought them and merged them into the new Michigan Stars thing they played in Dear born and this year to keep the traveling circus going they played in Pontiac north west further to the north I'm guessing Plymouth Township might be next on the list for next year maybe Romulus out by the airport not really sure but the trend continues who knows where they'll be next year so Shardah they've been awful since sometime in 2012 and they'll continue to be there's a lot more to the story middle fingers of staff people to the supporter section from last season things like that you know former staff people of theirs that have nothing but terrible things to say about the experience there and where season ticket holders of DCFC so they're not a good organization and we will continue to call them Shardah until they go away forever in 2013 should also be noted that we called them or we made sure to hold up a two stick that said you're not a rival you're a disease in the supporter section and then once they rebranded and moved we continued with you're still a disease and people were surgical masks so for the NPSL clubs they were the teams that we hate the most because of the lack of integrity in class and not just about whether they win or lose on the pitch so hopefully this has been a helpful ask podray segment hopefully you learned something those of you who are newer and confused by the Shardah name and as always keep sending in your ask podray questions suggestions and I'll answer them or recruit others like Sergeant Scary this week to help me get you the answers that you need next week I hope to be back at Motor City with everybody and have a few pints and explore some hopefully positive successful playoff games with everybody so looking forward to it and I'm also looking forward to hearing the rest of this episode take care we're back joining us here at Motor City Brainworks is Defraid City Midfielder Troy Waugh and Troy thanks for joining us thanks for having me so Sean has a little factoid that I thought that was sort of like lead off the starting point in terms of playing time on the city roster this season I don't know if you're aware of so did you realize that if you played five more minutes this season you would be tied for first in playing time with Josh Rogers that's how much you played this season I did not know that I mean hopefully I get five more minutes than Josh this weekend he won the regular season title we'll restart the standings for the playoffs I mean that goes to me we're we'd set a prior podcast that that that you know David Woodson talked about how important you thought you really quickly you come to the team on the field and we sort of realized sort of re-watching games more than watching games at the time just tell sort of in our words quietly good a job you've done especially from the defensive point of view in the field for the team I mean I don't know how you're not gonna say nice things like yourself so we're gonna have to but I mean are you happy with how the for me yes because coming in I was kind of ify on how much time I played being my first year and all and at the beginning I I was kind of questioning it because the first game I got in for like 20 minutes I left back so I felt a bit out of position but coach like make sure I got my minutes in and in practice is you make sure you're doing your reps in there to make me feel comfortable so I kind of just have time to adjust really I mean we haven't really talked anybody about sort of what the process is when you come in as a new player you just you get sort of one-on-one time with them talking about sort of expectations or is it the general thing or what were your expectations coming in well like coming from Saginaw with a few guys like Alex was here last year so he would tell us like what it's like how the trainings go but I didn't really know because I knew there wasn't gonna be talent on the team so I was kind of like hopefully I'm better than most of the mids so that I can start and get as many minutes as possible but at the same time I didn't expect to play this much to be honest I mean the I mean you talked about you come on a second or there's a bit of a pipeline from Saginaw the city wasn't helpful to have guys that you played around with it I mean not even the social stuff but from the standpoint of Alex and telling guys like that 100% like he like I said he kind of mentally prepared like the guys that just came in like from Saginaw at least and like told us like what to expect and like what then like what then's tendencies are like how he's hurting the people from what we were saying every other player said you're allowed to say yeah I mean yeah but it's constructive criticism so like you he yells at you yeah but I mean for me the yelling kind of makes me want to pursue perfection so I don't want to be yelling at me and like me and Dave kind of have this thing on the field where like when we know we've done something wrong we kind of just like look at each other and like force ourselves not to look at Ben because you know he's just gonna be mad or something so I don't know he definitely does yell but it's constructive and it makes you want to be perfect so he doesn't know you guys going back to the you mentioned you spent some time I left back earlier but most this season you've been playing sort of the holding the fielder this seems to me so I guess my question is that the position you played like your higher career or did you play other positions beforehand where are you most comfortable definitely played pretty much everywhere do not like outside mid a lot of running I played strike or grown up played center back my first two years in college at my junior college and I play holding it now at Saginaw and I would say holding it's probably the most comfortable spot so you're in a good spot right now yeah so you mentioned your junior college and then to Saginaw like how did you make that transition like how did you decide to pick Saginaw out of there how did well at the time I there's this like big show-based tournament in Toronto and coach Kale was our coach or not got recruited and he he saw me and he told me that he was interested in me and so on and then my grades unfortunately weren't good enough so get to do good school so I have to go to junior college first unfortunately because it got me prepared to play at the level I do now and coming out of junior college coach the days in junior college coach Kale was always in contact with me whether it be just like how things go in and such because he knew like where I came from and all that and then so was it easy decision to go on a side not because he was such a great coach and now we have wagstaff coach wagstaff was amazing as well so I kind of did bless have you had a chance to work with good wagstaff yeah spring season in the our past spring season actually he coached three of our last games or two of our last games in the spring season had some training sessions with us he's he's a great guy great coach and he really knows what he's talking about so you grew up in Canada right yep so how if you decide I guess and you mentioned that Kale came over and went to a showcase but are there any like specific requirements like to move over and play college soccer in the US from another country yeah it's a very very very very long process you have to take your SATs have to do well on your SATs I did well on my SATs high school grades not so much you have to do well in with your high school classes you got to get F1 student visa which can take time it's a very long prolonged process and at times I was kind of deciding if it was actually what I wanted based on how long it took but in the end I definitely I'm very very grateful that I came over so if you'd say in Canada what would your options or your path have been do you think very limited definitely I mean I love Canada but I can support you very limited especially with soccer hockey would be fine yeah they don't offer like student athletic scholarships so that's a big thing because I mean I never grew up with money so being getting school somewhat paid for or paid for fully was definitely a big thing for me to be able to go on and continue my schooling so that was probably the biggest thing what do you feel like this season's experience at city is gonna is done in terms of making you more prepared better giving some different experience when city is definitely huge for me because one I knew if I went back home I coach like staff knew this as well if I went back home I'd probably just be working we're just hanging out with friends and not really training so he like he like referred guys and like encouraged on to play throughout the summer so that they had their fitness levels up and such and he knew city had like a great program being with Ben and such so fitness wise definitely stays up the game tempo and just being on ball and the drills at coach Ben and a deal runs just it's good training for when it comes back to school you can equalize our faster temple now I mean Dave Ederson when we talked to him talked a lot about sort of really how much he likes having you behind him so let's him move forward and it really seems like you guys have become a really good team together I mean it's been apart from the fact that he's hard to understand what you say I mean he said he played like a yellow mannequin against the box in that you know you're so we caught magic we actually have like get Google out in urban dictionary and I don't know what that was finally figured out what was going on this is my training you know yeah does when he gets excited so when he gets excited who's harder understand him or Alex Williams I lost it I lost all my well I understand it a bit but cons when he when he gets excited and like say angry at one of the guys not like stepping to the ball I think it's really funny because like his English is like it's not the greatest English but when he like says it he seems angry but it comes off as a joke yeah I mean I can understand why some people find it hard to understand but like I've had like English roommates my dad's English so I understood I understand a good amount sometimes no I mean you have a lot of experience playing with guys who are like a Josh or you know Dave or you know grandma so that guys were older and that's sort of that you know maybe not that that first step to the ball but so much experience they almost don't need it as much as somebody under faster guys I've never played with them like a guy like those guys those like Josh others he's not the fastest guy by his position it's great Dave is just a work horse I mean honestly I think he works harder than me I don't work that hard I just I just I just try and be in the right spot so that I can limit my running and save my energy for when it's really needed and Brett he's like he's very vocal same with Josh Josh pretty much like controls me and Dave from behind like before games we talk about it it's like I'm just like just keep talking because that's what I need because it's a lot easier to have someone say your left shoulder right shoulder rather than you looking back for that quick second because you could lose a guy in that quick second so it just makes the game a lot easier there's I think the phrase Josh is was joysticking exactly that was a a sort of a bocadive phrase but I mean that's from the standpoint of a growth as a player I mean that's something you're gonna take away is your like look at those guys and how they you know what it's I mean work ethic I mean not that obviously I haven't played with a lot of you already got to work out there or just sort of smart or something a little bit or how to yell and rap without getting car like Josh or I don't know how I don't know how I don't have many more to be honest but Josh kind of keeps me check a lot of the times Dave as well elder guys so they just like I try that's enough for you let us deal with it in the midfield and with this sort of mix obviously with what they're going down and I don't it didn't sound like he's too optimistic about coming back to play off something up so we hope he does but you know we saw sort of a couple different setups and options there I mean do you feel without and we don't even know the details of helping to set up I mean do you feel kind of comfortable with what the midfields gonna look like the playoffs 100% like we played with Sebi in there with me I felt comfortable alongside Sebi because Sebi's a workforce and then I play with Steve in the stars game the away stars game and he's great like we I mean for the most part I got like I play I try and play well with everyone so if they want me to do more defending than that's what I'll do if they want me to step higher that's what I'll do if like if like deep likes to play higher and so then I would have to step higher so I just try to adapt to what they want to because I mean they're all the I mean I have confidence that they know more than I just trying to what they say I mean it's again for someone like you so coming out of college and I would have the junior college in the like probably more support than you're used to getting we hope at least if not we're gonna be way more support than I've ever gotten I know that you're talking about Alex getting a hint of stuff I mean is it where you had you liked seeing the videos or whatever when you showed up or were you just sort of like what was the first experience like first experience I came my sophomore year in junior college I came to the Saginaw Detroit City game and wasn't cast that yeah I came to see the guys playing such and then I saw the fans and I was just like what's going on like why is there so many people is this like I was confused and then playing my first year at Saginaw so I retirted but training was second on what's not coke scale like said like you should try and play over summer like I said you should try to play over summer so I said like I would like to be a part of that and then going into the the Saginaw game where I actually got to play I was like I'm a very passionate person so like when I play I tend to yell at players like the opposite team not my own team but I think it's all about the other players but I was made at a point that I didn't yell at anyone I'm like percet anyone on the opposite team because I knew I'd be playing with them throughout the summer it wasn't hard because most of guys were really nice so I didn't have a hard time keeping my mouth shut so that game you scored a gold in show yeah 100% sleep could you could you bring yourself to have that killer instinct against city again if you play it's your image against him next year I mean because I was sitting there going like boom I don't we feel like we were really conflicted there for like wait a second like okay that was a great goal good play so like good just do that for us we're not just sharing for balls going in the net against our team yeah I mean my roles with DCSC is a lot different with school DCSC coach Ben wants me to more you know said sit in playing behind Dave and just like break up tackles when balls in the air and such and I guess I tend to have a bit more freedom I guess you can say to get forward and so I mean and that's you know Sean opposed to the a gift to our Twitter account that is used elsewhere before of just what he calls her to be quintessential Troy Watson play the season where you guy had ball coming from it feel and then dancing in the sort of random down quietly from behind just cut in front of him grab the ball and just cleared it and then again it was just it was just it was not it wasn't flashy it wasn't exciting it was just I think I think that's what I think it was just it was just a you know he just posted it today yeah okay that's not it was just it was a you know it's a thing where you know and that's what sort of it's funny from a supporters perspective it took us a while to sort of realize you know oh wait now we've got you know somebody doing really nice stuff because you're not as necessarily as loud as you know you say you met the only guys we don't see it it's not as good enough like the thunderous tackles like it was something like that is he ever coming on one practice or whatever no no I got a practice I'm more to just jump out of tackle so I don't hurt myself so unless I'm really angry and then I'll probably still jump out to be honest but we would you know they took a while for everybody to recognize that so I mean it's and I think that it's become clear to a lot of the fan base of how much early in the season it felt like the defense was a little bit disjointed and it really came together at the time I mean do you all sort of like the U.S.

player sits there and talk about from the standpoint of the defense teams to come together and we could that now I mean obviously you're chatting up each other you try to figure out what's going out it's more it was more of just like guys getting comfortable with each other because I got to be getting in the season close by just trying out guys together see who compliments you but like now I feel like we're clicking at the right time at least minus that here again it was just unlikely to be honest with one of the ways that you play because you want to find a good for a lot of some of the I mean of the new guys this year you seem to be the calmest maybe the least insane I mean maybe it's because you're not living in that house with everybody else that could be a good guy pretty crazy we've all sorts of events and stories and you know you haven't ended up with angel wings or no chance or anything like that unfortunately not well to see if we know some people just challenges and folks here yeah those guys those guys are a lot more more talkative than I am my most talker for you're talking pretty fine right now so I'm trying hard to race and previously you mentioned sort of what you would have been doing if you weren't playing city but I guess my question was sort of what your summer look like what are you doing with your summer the size obviously playing a lot but well I'm staying with Tyler channel right now shout out to Mr. and Mrs. Channel great great host shout out to Tyler channel great host great friend great teammate but you're standing behind him right now is declined to be yeah I'm staying with them and I mean they've been very very welcoming I mean I met him before so that was easy to just you know get into it but they've gone above and beyond and I'm very appreciative of that and pretty much like Tyler is gone to work mom's gonna work dad's gonna work so I'm kind of just you know at the house watching the dog watching TV so it's a great life it's a great life I think that's a good one TV my favorite thing I think Tyler might want to switch lives with me this summer but really relaxing life he's squirting with me so yeah I'm not going to score I'll leave that to it Tyler you know I guess you have any favorite memories of this season that you want to share memories whole there's one stands out in my mind Dave Edwards in school at Lansing that I was oh my god that was and was like what we needed it everything also Mattie of ours goal I was standing right behind him so I saw the ball move and everything and it just went top corner and we really need that going and came back to be since that since he's so that was great that's that's you know Sean asked my Twitter wait you're not left with it are you? yeah I know that makes a few jokes he just says hey guys if you guys have to be your back with it I just popped up on my left and I'll put it in I was very good as a group I think they had his quarters take pride in the back of the sense of fire department show I was kind of confused during the game I was like what's going on but then I realized that's what I was wrong the I in Detroit it's actually funny there's a this an ambulance crews that walk in Park behind for a call park behind the opposing bowl they're off the Grand River they've been known to stand there just abusing the opposing goalie while waiting for a call come in so the FDA knows not to show up at gas so I mean looking forward recognizing that you never know what things are gonna bring so are you on your third year of called eligibility or third year I'm gonna be a junior so I mean that next offseason you see yourself coming back to city all things 100% 100% we've already broken like two retirement announcements pockets yeah I'm way too young for that and I mean looking forward past that I mean what what do you sort of hope for out of soccer in the life and the history of you I mean everybody I guess has the ambition of being playing at a high level and getting paid to play because I mean you've been working our whole lives really but I mean that would be ideal but at the same time I'm not like I guess it depends on how my season goes if it goes well then maybe I'll push a bit harder for it but doesn't go as much plan knock on wood I might just focus on just schooling and have a different outlook on life I guess so I guess what's really big for me what are you studying elementary ed teacher yeah going back to Canada for it though page way more you hope to use that elementary education education to coach the people someday I think I'd be a horrible coach to be honest I'm not the most local person so and I mean depends on a group I I would coach was I mean I wouldn't know how to say it was a youth team and like you know you gotta get even playing time and such I don't think I'll be able to do that because I just want to win all the time it's all good to get in and maybe parents will get mad at me and I'll be able to do that so I'm gonna go to travel that's the answer travel is good I can maybe do that maybe well it's been a pleasure having you on the team you sir I guess we sort of apologize for taking a while to figure out how good a job we're doing and we look at this the nice thing about having a stream we can actually go back and look and go oh wait a lot of teams don't have that luxury so it's a you have family that's like looking at like watching a streamer that they made the match or anything like a major my mom can't get out to games doesn't work but she's been streaming pretty often I have a lot of friends streaming I think a lot of my friends think I'm famous now because of the amount of likes I got on a picture and there was a picture that Rachel and Murray you guys know she one of my friends actually from my junior college is dating Rachel and he has he's a season ticket holder or she is and they come to the games all the time and she took a picture of me signing autographs for the kids and stuff and so all my friends back on think I'm famous I never told him I'm not famous they think I'm playing pro so well said but as much as like you're still not up there with Ross who like the people watching she was like you know oh yeah like my mom's and pulling in my kids in Australia and my sister was in public opinion pop in the giddy years like that it was just like it was like okay so you're like 35 or something international views on the stream like you're standing for your extended for your losses Ross is like a trick I mean you got to love that is his personality just a very like a personality we're so we're glad to see him get a start the stars are way mad yeah I was talking from as well I mean it was just talk as you see a lot of these guys that that you know we're putting in the work in practice yeah putting in the work you know stuff like maybe that's trying to be as prepared as anybody else and it's not getting you know like Charlie McInus posted something on Twitter about like he's played ten minutes and he's got a lot of stats he's exaggerating a little we were I was I've been you know I was like no I got the old two red cards and you know something like that okay well I've seen your red cards and the one of four pet I was joking that I think it's illegal when he did it like UFC but you know Josh helped me with my car but those guys that that don't get it as much chance to play it's nice to see them in a chance and that's actually one of those it'll be nice to know you know we try to go just as hard and I want to warn the guys that we bought smoke assuming that we were gonna host playoffs so we try to get rid of our smoke every year so that's the other whatever so like probably loaned you guys some shop masks that's something else is getting a chance to play that would be great nose buds or for that matter open it by anybody's not so you're not dressing anybody wants to come in with us and say I can buy you popsick I saw that shot Charlie so I mean any of you have like a favorite chant or song or anything like that that we do from the do you ever get a chance to listen to what folks are saying or doing or for the most part like when I'm in the game I kind of just go deaf to be honest but a highlight to touch back on that too was the Tetris at the end of the Stars game that was pretty awesome I was all the way on the other side and I turned back I was like where's everybody I think the change room and then I look over and I was like oh they're all over there I kind of missed it maybe maybe at the Windsor game it'll probably happen to get at the stars friendly yeah I guess I'm like some fame time everybody else got it I was kind of on the outskirts was it was worth I'm hoping the players were happy for hobby after his goal was as a supporter where we're gonna put that much work again oh yeah he did come back really fast he was working real hard he was going to rehab to be at every training session just sitting there and turn on guys encouraging the guys it's great how do you how do you that next thing that you just love I mean that beyond that he was working like the youth games and stuff like that you know my son went to youth camp and those thing hobby and the Ross who was standing at the time and a couple of years ago just you know they should have played and everything else is out there trying to work with kids and I know his high school coach is back in Iowa yeah but on to touch on what you said earlier actually I'm with guys getting in and I get their starts and such the guys work really hard in practice and Coach Bend does a really good job with getting guys like a minute and a reps and stuff to reward him in a sense and also like guys like like Bobby Bobby works as awesome practice gives my French brother was a tech we got the explicit tech in iTunes yeah he hits me a few times and he does a cannon but there's a lot of guys that just work real hard in practice and they got their opportunity which I thought was nice to coach Ben Lord one last question speaking of guys that worked their ass off does Alex always run that much always I mean it's just like I think it over just like I can't even imagine him being running as far as best he done a regular basis always running practice you not school he's doing the same thing he shows up early get some crosses in he runs he has unlimited energy when we run through my life school I'm chasing him I don't do well try my best to keep up with him but he just keeps going he works hard and I wish I could have his work great to be honest it'll be at some point he's been a scorer at Cass and I'm worried for the structural like the structural power of the stands when that happens because it was enough when he scored away and Twitter there's no stream and Twitter to serve and I can only imagine what his Twitter notifications look like that night but yeah it was he scores of gas it's just a game over yeah you'll probably be tired after a celebration just like they'll probably go crazy but it's not the game because it's smoke it's happened once it is happened once that I know that the rough stop the game is too much no really friendly two years ago so the lives when couldn't see off sides yeah I thought the game was gonna get stop last game like last on game I was on the bench I came up about the 80th and I was looking across the field and I could not see the Northern Grand Junction I could not see anything I couldn't see long so I was just like wow what happened for that change I think we've but we're so not used to being down at the end of the match yes that we're sort of you know keep an eye on that for future efforts to try to not make it puts a hard to the team's for an environment I mean we'll think if it's a draw on semi-center against a clean wonder lever but you're down probably the local will lay off the smoke when they're in the future I think it was a pretty good problem they have to be 2015 when we figure out what happens when you're down the match I would definitely depress him down in the game because we thought we had it just a few unlucky bounces but I mean it happens you know and I would rather lose and then in the playoffs when it's do or die so it's gonna be good for that too so well Troy thank you very much appreciate you coming down appreciate the time it's been a lot of fun watching this year and we look forward to hopefully somebody that's a figure's on how to scare scopers like that we get straight up a playoff because four o'clock on the Friday's on the top for folks and make a trip to Madison I think we'll do it on top of the tweets always is yes we'll see you hopefully we'll do next we'll do I will definitely be here thanks all right we've got a special bonus introduce section here because we've got Tyler channel with us he was nice enough to get Troy ride we only really have one question for him and we wanted to ask him about the hand of God goal and whether he meant to hit with his hand or not so Tyler what can you tell us about that yeah 100% mentored my hand I was going to I saw James Fairfield across balls I got a game for this solid goal he was pretty huge and I didn't want to get my head taken out or anything so I'll kind of step my arms up and got a little nudge on it and kind of just look back I sell a line to a not his hand over flag up or anything of center point it to the center and just celebrate it because I played it off like a score but yeah you feel bad or no oh not a chance I mean I think we're winning ones here at the time so they do and I kind of open the plug-ins on that game I think I was a man's game actually so I don't feel bad about that anything to win yeah anything I can never say I can now say I've always wanted my hands so there you go it's accomplishment yeah all right well thank you Tyler for your one minute bonus section back and here with discussion of the week coming up with a playoff Sean yeah so we got four teams in the playoffs now officially while we were talking to try Watson actually it became official that Indiana fire will be moving into the playoffs and Buffalo is out when Tyler channels the guy who tells us what's going on yeah well we were busy in the middle of an interview and he was checking his phone so we got like support support crew now on the podcast we are moving up in the world our researcher channel with a good research around like the guy sits behind the sports gazors and what's going on at best so anyway I wanted to take a little bit of time to move to talk a little bit more in depth about each of the four teams that are in the playoffs started preview how the weekend's gonna go so our game is at 3 p.m.

Eastern time 3 p.m. Central 4 p.m. Eastern time in Madis ESL yeah that is not the best timing for people who want to watch because it's a Friday this Friday and it's people are going to go home from work and it's not even the guys who are going to watch I mean if I'm Madison and I am trying to set up a schedule that will knock the tougher teams on their behinds because in any meaningful way looking at strength the schedule looking at anything Cleveland and DCFC are the two tougher teams in this playoffs DCFC especially when you just look at every other sort of metric other than pure points against craft teams playing a game at 4 o'clock Eastern after a six hour drive means that either DCFC is gonna have to show up to put guys up the night before or they're gonna have to leave in a bus really early in the morning in either way that's not terribly conducive to guys playing at the peak so I mean that's I mean it's still I mean it's one more way which the NPS has a clown show how this happened with the in a fire Minnesota United matches clown show I thought that's a Buffalo statement on the thing basically saying that you know they appreciate that the NPS I had no option other than to finish it off this way but there's no sickness stomachs you know credit to those guys for handling this with class and grace I can't imagine if we were the place of the situation how furious we'd be and how smoking Twitter servers would be over this one but you know I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm I'll be back next year they're consistently a class organization they will be so but Cleveland coming up first they're probably gonna be the second toughest team if you're counting DCFC as a toughest team in the playoffs which we would all like to think Cleveland is probably the other one that is looking fairly strong to me saw them in the very first game of the season which it's kind of hard to judge too much when there's that much time in between the games they really seem to hit their form since that late loss they beat work big regiment on the road by five rolls I think got a lot of they've not a lot of goals all season long they've got some good attacking weapons they've got so got Vinny Bell around still got Sergio Menaceo's first team Tom Beck Ednaer's Sulevich just all around they're probably the other strongest team in these playoffs and it's of course when I play them in the first game I just briefly for the listeners at home John's pulled his names on his head which I'm saying I can barely remember cities roster much less Johnson here playing the names of Cleveland's guys on his head so across you I spend a little bit too much time researching fourth year amateur soccer sometimes but yeah the Madison Indian a fire game is gonna be an interesting one on the knock on both teams this entire year has been that their schedules are fairly weak and they are what they've gotten the wins they needed to get to the playoffs over those weak teams so I can't say that neither of them deserves to be in the playoffs you can maybe take a little bit of exception with like a number one C of for Madison or you can make an argument that may be Buffalo would deserve to go over Indiana fire but you're always gonna have those arguments with the Sun balance schedule there's really no way around that we sort of knew it at that fourth spot even at the beginning of the season was probably gonna come down to some controversy over strength of schedule what happened last season when that was what cities came in on the strength of beating up on crack competition out yeah it was there's areas that hadn't scored four goals all season like that possibly the last kind of crucial this year actually even with the forfeit and moving in just because last year it was basically on points per game but there was no cross play so there was a team in this central division that had like a negative 50 goal differential and lost every single game they did not even tie a single game which didn't happen this year but they basically handed out three points that entire division and Minnesota United reserves moved into the playoffs based on their points per game or slightly over Detroit City and and and promptly got blown out they got that last like four to nothing when they played Lansing who we had beaten in Ty thing yeah so this year I think each of the four teams at least has a halfway reasonable claim to be in the playoffs I don't think there's anybody who's just a complete fraud a complete fraud even how even if people might label some teams as a fraud it's not like I don't know the mission stars down at the playoffs so I mean you play the schedule you got and that they won the game so they won I mean you can prolong the stats out and make all the points and we have I mean I was having some fun on our DC FC Twitter got the other way on all the ways in which Madison's schedule was weak and sucks and an embarrassing all that and there's one Madison fan I think I weren't even sure to control it no he was a fan I thought I looked at his Twitter account he had a picture of him with a drone so I guess he's part of their support a group you know the record against teams over 500 their record against the playoff teams a whole different role I mean it's you know for a while it would look like it might have it might have been the Raskals or V teams and Madison the playoffs and that would have been a dog fight I think if you throw DC FC Cleveland and Buffalo I mean that's not a bad team if we did to spank them silly and cast right yeah you have to remember that when we're talking about this we're talking in the context that there are only four teams left in the playoffs compared to the 13 teams in the entire region so yeah but I mean you know I mean if you throw in those working to the playoffs that would have been a dog that would be fascinating to see about it especially if it's at gas one day but there were neutral fighters so they have to steal a little bit of a little bit of a mistake I think that's I think the any fire or I didn't run the numbers on them quite as much as I said I don't think they're all that exciting I mean Madison played I believe one match outside of Indiana Wisconsin Indiana Minnesota and that was when they came to gas at that stonk you know everybody else travel and they didn't again yeah I guess thing to call out for Madison is they have one very talented forward Drew Whalen was the golden boot winner this season in the end because so it was actually beat William Ellers Blair by one goal how many fewer games I don't know how many games he played off the top of my head I know he did not play the last game this season as Minnesota twin stars but he had three hat tricks this season so that should tell you something about this guy I've yeah he plays for the same the same place I never heard the name of the Leathernecks or Northern Iowa yeah it's Illinois yeah so when they played at Cass I thought he was a good player I thought the ball barely ever got to him any very rarely a chance to do anything with it because the rest of his team could not effectively keep the ball while they were playing against our guys at Cass Tech so playing as Madison is really sort of a if you keep it out of Drew Whalen's hands you've got a really really good chance winning and by the way the last game of the season as Minnesota twin stars they just randomly and now it's like oh by the way it's not a game time and Drew Whalen's not playing this game so I don't know why he's out I don't know if it's injury I don't know if they just sat him for a rest I don't know I would mention that I should I mean they were down at the beginning they were and like you know they were resting him in the match it was you think he did at least they were on the bench like you know yeah leave them on the bench don't play them if you'll need them but when you're down at the beginning he wasn't even 18 so yeah they would seem to be unlikely but what's your name on that way what's your name on that high-pitched academic level so that's something to keep out on IO4 whether Drew Whalen makes a return that'll significantly help Madison's chances it that is to say watch for if we can watch it if Madison's got their stream working we are sitting here in the restaurant so we get a chance to watch their tests tonight hopefully it worked well and we'll get to see some soccer this weekend because I'm gonna watch him from Germany and if I don't get to see some city playoffs I'm gonna be real angry yeah it's people getting angry and Germany's got bad history so um so you got we know about city we know about the fire I know very little about fire too we didn't play them this year they did not play us so there was no we didn't see them there they played Buffalo at home so there's no stream from that game I think they played in the pallets right I could probably I think FC Indiana had a stream that they played against but I didn't want to watch that game so you know you had the season back a long well no so really I know nothing about them I just know the names of public players just looking at stats but that doesn't really tell you much just because stats are so limited at this level that it's really hard to draw a full conclusion on a player speaking of Shout out to Lindsey Pearson again as usual at DCSC I was chatting with her and she was talking about how she was working to update all of our stats and try to get you know everything sort of finalized for the regular season and done on the website that we had some historical stuff for nerds like us with care box that's what it does that's Lindsey was a shot I don't like all his interns doing that you know find some interns somebody and all that sort of guys but she is my hero of the day then because I love that's pretty much I mean this never crash I mean at least some basic ones I sorry it's hard to draw it's not like baseball where you've got sort of crazy saber metrics going on but I will say what I want about they were metrics but I do I would do like to keep tabs on some basic stats so well I mean something as simple as how many goals somebody scored in a season who played in a match like you know things like that we're trying to look at other games and you're going to the NPSL's and I use the word website like if I found through I think matching the full-time thing so I found I was trying to find some stuff about the 24 these yes season if you go like the DCSC homepage on the MPSL website like they've got 15 14 and 13 listen there's no 12 pages on the MPSL website you have to like go through like some sort of like backdoor Google I know come through kind of back door thing to find it's there other than that I was looking for but I mean you know to some extent league website you have a job that's to like tell us who did what inch to whom and beyond that like maybe a little bit less graphic fun fun stuff about other teams and maybe some more like you know who scored right nicely I mean you're a sports league there's plenty of guys that want a job in sports grab like two or three college interns somewhere they don't even have to be looking at wherever your head offices are you have offices I just give them the job of compiling this crap we'll do it for fun I'll call Sean I do do it for fun so I already show it for fun I'm gonna last give him five bucks I'll do it for the rest of the week yeah no yeah so there's going to be some folks making the trip safe travels to the brave party souls you can I wish I could we all wish we could trucking a thing at a yeast beans very easy as far as dare at East so I mean I don't know I just you know I know that that when we're talking to Troy and Tyler a little bit ago they seem confident I mean I guess that's rather nice that you got to go into it with you know it seems a good spot though you've been missing some players yeah I mean between the the city's you know constant sort of funkiness and they turf field I mean this is Madison a turf field to craft we know even I should but I don't I think our way record this year was three two and one with a plus seven bowl differential but I reckon oh I'm sure we'll go away which I think virtually every bit was true yeah I think I think medicine sir I know the name of the stadium I know what it looks like I did in blanking on whether it's here from up throw the we thought like oh my god so that terrifying words are what it's you're considering how strong I know you have to quantify this at some point oh home field advantage is in the end BSL to go three two one pick up nine sorry eleven points in six games away it's pretty impressive and you know against the decent teams to know since he's no slouch but Buffalo on both both lows in our slouch and we've tied was in time to make a service or time the only loss away was obviously that Lansing right and I don't think that game was quite as left side as a three one score line I thought I thought they took their opportunities and we didn't regardless seems to go away they got to win to I don't know how far we want to look ahead but I know that there's still theoretically a chance to win out there's a possibility of another playoff mentioned that the truth that I'm I think that involves pretty unlikely stuff that would require New York cosmos be to lose and the second seat it seemed in the East region so that's not very likely because that team is stacked all right well we will watch and see what happens and that'll do it for another episode of the Tracy LC fan gas I guess that was the final regular season one technically in the pre playoff version is these things go thanks as always thank you Troy Watson for making the trip down post training I think channel for giving him a ride showing up I expected I guess these few seconds in time thanks a lot of listen persons for helping us
