Episode 6: US-China, Part 3: Chips

from Out of Order · host Ben Maher and Anthony Buono

In current events, we discuss U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken's recent summit with Chairman Xi Jinping and other high-ranking officials in China, New York's move to protect doctors providing abortion care to U.S. citizens in states with bans, Ron DeSantis's campaign strategy of trying to outflank Donald Trump on the right of abortion, and highly anticipated Supreme Court decisions coming this summer. In our book club, we discuss chapter 3 of "Supreme Inequality" by Adam Cohen, which focuses mostly on the effects of the Supreme Court's 1972 ruling on San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez and its 1973 decision on Milliken v. Bradley. Finally, for our deep dive this week, we explore the wide world of semiconductors, and their central positioning in the current cold war between the U.S. and China. Hope you learn something!
