Episode 6 - Volunteerism and Giving Back

This episode focuses on the theme of volunteerism and giving back. In my doctoral research, Ugandan Asian refugees consistently mentioned the importance of giving back to society as a means of paying forward the generosity and kindness that was extended to them as refugees. These remarks were unprompted as participants expressed that volunteerism is a central component of their personal identity construction and naturally came up as part of their explanations of who they are.
