Episode 62: Church Decline and Some Great News About It

from The Speaking Out on Sex Abuse Podcast · host Jimmy and Clara Hinton

The church in the US is in decline. The Barna Institute did a 2016 study that shows only about 35% of Americans participate in church anymore, despite the fact that over 70% claim that they are Christians. Is there a direct link between church decline and abuse, or are there other major factors? We have high hope that artificial community is deteriorating, while authentic church community will be on the rise. People who have left organized religion often feel like (or are told) that they are not part of the church anymore. This nonsense should motivate us even more to stay united and provide community for one another. In this episode, we share our hope and the direction we think the church will go (and it's great news!).
