Episode 62: Season 2 Finale Part 2: Loving on Your Lwas

In this part 2 of 4 season finale episode, we continue the theme of loving your lwa, which means remembering them, serving them, listening to them, and building a respectful relationship with them over time. We begin with our Pawòl Pouvwa (Word of Power) by exploring the meaning of dlo, along with the importance of limyè and the practice of jete dlo in Haitian Vodou. We explain how water, light, and libations are used to welcome, refresh, and honor the spirits.From there, we talk about different ways the lwa communicates and connects with people. We discuss mounting, and what it means when the lwa come close to guide, protect, correct, or bless someone. We also explore the importance of dreams as spaces where messages, warnings, and ancestral wisdom can be received.We then turn to the idea of the Met Tèt, helping listeners understand the lwa most closely connected to their spiritual path and identity. From there, we discuss lave tèt, the spiritual washing of the head used to cleanse, cool, and strengthen a person spiritually.We close the episode by reflecting on initiation and what it means within Haitian Vodou.
