Episode 63: The Stolen Blessing

Isaac is old and blind. He asks Esau to hunt game for a blessing. Rebekah overhears and schemes: Jacob will dress in Esau's clothes, wear goatskins on his arms, and steal the blessing. It works. Isaac blesses Jacob, thinking he's Esau. When Esau returns, the truth comes out, and Esau weeps bitterly. "Have you but one blessing, my father?" The blessing cannot be revoked. Esau plans murder. Jacob must flee. A family torn apart by deception. But here's the irony: God had already said Jacob would receive the blessing before he was born. The scheming was unnecessary.
