Braden Sherron lives to hunt big fish below the surface in the Gulf of Mexico and he recently made headlines when he speared this giant 137 lb cubera snapper. We discuss the ins and outs of what it takes to be a successful free diver and spear gun hunter. There’s alot that goes into the technique that is certainly Greek to me. This particular cubera snapper smashed the previous world record by over 10 lbs. Most people are familiar with red snapper and even mangrove snapper, but what is a cubera and why does it reach such massive dimensions? Is there a season for this species? How close do you have to get to successfully spear a fish this size? All that and much more with the Corpus Christi, Texas native. Then we check in with 18 year old huntress Cecile Ozier of Memphis, Tennessee. She recently drew the ire of the anti hunting community after legally taking this beautiful zebra while on safari in South Africa. They even went as far as to come to her house and call the admissions office at the college she’s enrolled at for this fall. Cecile mentions that it was shocking to see the number of women who attacked her in an era where women are supposed to be supportive of each other according to societal norms. The vile things people say on social media can certainly be mentally taxing on a person as well. On a lighter note, it was a breath of fresh air to hear how much she truly enjoys hunting and the special bond that it has created between her and her dad. (The zebra image Cecile posted on her Instagram page that caused the anti hunting community to melt down)
