Send us Fan MailCreator of 'The Dreamer Project" Hayley Avino RN, BSN, DNP-FNP Student joined us to unpack the detailed purpose driven initiative of The Dreamer Project. Defying the Odds of Relapse: Social Connection and Exercise Influence on Long-Term Recovery of Substance Use Disorder. Hayley Avino is a baccalaureate-prepared Registered Nurse, Doctor of Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner Student, and CrossFit Level 1 Trainer. She carries diverse professional, critical care, and leadership experience having worked as an RN for over eight years in Emergency Rooms throughout the country in addition to serving in a variety of ways throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. She graduated from Ball State University in 2012 with Cum Laude Honors. While at Arizona State University (ASU) as a Doctor of Nursing Practice Family Nurse Practitioner Student (DNP-FNP) and Teaching Assistant (TA), she has excelled. She was awarded ASU’s Health Innovation Exhibition Winner in Fall 2020. She has acted as a student leader, mentor for others, participated in the Arizona AHEC COVID Scholars Program, and pushed the boundaries when it comes to advocacy for a change to enhance patient outcomes from substance use disorder (SUD) as well as preventative, innovative, and sustainable health efforts for the communities she serves. She helped establish a five-year partnership with The Hope House, a greater Phoenix area Residential Treatment Center, for Future ASU students to gain significant learning opportunities in evidence-based care for SUD. This was only achieved secondary to the relentless efforts she upheld while seeking clinical partnership and funding throughout the development of the D.R.E.A.M.E.R. project. She has been a featured guest on several blogs and podcasts. Her personal and professional story related to substance use disorder were weaved together through several media releases including The Morning Chalk Up, ASU News, Yahoo, and more. She will be a featured guest on The Herren Project Live show, a conversational platform that focuses on addiction, recovery, wellness, prevention, and education on February 17, 2021. Most recently, she accepted a podium spot to present and speak at the Assocition for Teaching, Prevention, and Research virtual healthcare conference on March 9, 2021. Her presentation will aim to inform those who attend on the impact and progress of her DNP quality improvement project to assist in the efforts to overcome SUD. She is an expert in the field of innovative recovery capital strategies through a combination of professional, academic, and personal experience. Her peers refer to her as "a fearless leader within healthcare" with a unique ability to "empower others".
