Dr. Dawn Ellison is a retired emergency medicine physician, who has extensive training in communication skills, leadership, and coaching. Dr. Ginamarie Papia is an Integrative Medicine Physician, who promotes whole-person health and wellness. Dawn shares that as an E.R. doc she wanted to help her colleagues so they “wouldn’t go home at the end of the day and feel terrible because someone we considered to be our colleague and friend hung up on us. And that happened. A lot.” Dawn offers a personal story about relationships and trust, and we have a discussion about Crucial Conversations training. Dawn says, “I use it with my coaching clients every day! And talking with patients, talking with colleagues.” Ginamarie shares her story of how she came to pursue Integrative Medicine, adding, “I’m very excited, I’m starting my own medical practice, to have control over my own schedule, to make medicine the way I want to see it, and I want more people to know that it’s possible to do that! You don’t have to stay in a cookie cutter type conveyer belt of what medicine is, or what a career in healthcare looks like.” Dawn adds, “Medicine is such a great career, and there’s so many opportunities for us to transition.” Gina agrees, “You can find a space that feels like it’s your own, and you can build a beautiful community around you; it’s ok to try different things!
