In 1938, an Indian motorcycle dealer organized a small hill-climb race for his local riding club — nine riders entered, about two hundred people watched. It grew into the largest motorcycle gathering on Earth, drawing over half a million vehicles to a town of seven thousand people every August. The rest of the year, the story is on display downtown at a motorcycle museum that's open every month, rally season or not.
