Episode #66: “We’re in this together!” Dr. Paul Buehrens & April German, medical lab professional

Dr. Paul Buehrens practiced as a family physician for 40 years. He is the Chief Medical Officer for VYRTY Corp. and developer of the mobile app, SYNCMD. April German is the Chair of a Medical/Clinical Laboratory Consulting Firm. The three of us are involved with the Healthcare Reinvention Collaborative (HRC).April and Paul explain problems that occur when labs consolidate, and adverse impacts, each sharing a specific, relatable example from their unique perspectives. April also explains how the lowering of standards for medical laboratory professionals can affect the results doctors receive from the lab. We also speak to hope, and innovation. Paul says, “Two people is what it takes to start just about anything!” April adds that if you bring together doctors and all allied healthcare professionals, “Now we’re millions, and they have to listen to us!” These collaborative conversations, connecting a variety of individuals who intersect with healthcare, are making a difference.
