In this episode we cover chapters 46-51 of The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson, a part of the Stormlight Archive. We start out riding a high storm with Big Face in the Sky as we take a tour of Roshar. We finally find out what happened that caused Kaladin to become a slave. Shallan spends her whole time in the Hospital, and yet manages not to be boring. We discuss themes of power, corruption, and broken self-centeredness. There are disagreements about how this section ended. Predictions The “Oathpact” is broken means the return of the desolations…time to see some monsters. Odium is “The Enemy” mentioned in the Prelude. Shardblades are evil. Shards are tied to the God’s. Shards on Roshar are tied to Odium and he is evil. A lighteyed officer killed Tien. The “Black Piper” is Odium. Kaladin is related to Paul Atredies…on his mother’s side. Kaladin and Bridge Four will find Urithiru. Urithiru is in the Shattered Plains. I’m thinking that it is buried beneath the Shattered Plains. But, definitely in the Shattered Plains somewhere. I think there is more to this Taravangian cat than we realize. Roshar has a weird Bizarro Roshar which is what Shallan saw when she “soulcast.” In the next episode we will cover from Interlude 7 through Chapter 55.
