Episode 69: Interview with Adoption Specialist Simon Benn

Simon Benn was adopted at 5 weeks old and told so young he doesn’t ever remember not knowing. He didn't experience any conscious adoption trauma until 40 when he found out his childhood teddy bear was a gift from his birth mother. This caused an eruption of anger, feeling rejected and unloved. That kickstarted a healing journey exploring trauma, his roots and who he is. He’s spent 18 years doing this and continues to be fascinated by it all. Now, he trains adoptive parents and adoption professionals so they can thrive along with their kids and clients. He has worked with 2,500 kids and parents in the UK and USA to increase kids’ confidence, self-esteem, resilience and ability to stop bullies upsetting them.
