As we end our exploration of 1861, let us take a moment to look at the conflict brewing within the Indian Territory, land given over to tribes expelled from their homes east of the Mississippi. Although we can only cover just two specific examples of the tribal conflicts here, these events would affect the war in Missouri and beyond in the war years.
