Good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and thank you for tuning into another episode of the official Don J Radio show hosted by yours truly on tap for this week's episode. We're talking government shutdown Netflix, Bird Box specifically and the college football playoffs and NFL playoffs that just kicked off all that much more after this brief message. Don't let a car wreck wreck your day call the singleton law firm. 318-631-5200.
Ask for Erica. In entertainment we have the Bird Box challenge. Now if you haven't seen a movie on Netflix entitled Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock, I definitely recommend you go see it. One of their best Netflix films, I'm definitely a huge Netflix buff, and their latest, I guess, headlining movie, it's made us create a sort of Bird Box challenge where people are blindfolding themselves and trying to go about their everyday life blindfolding.
Now if that sounds idiotic, it should. And if you think the execution would be just as idiotic, you are correct in that sort of assumption. Wearing a blindfold at all times while wandering around outside, I don't really see even from the premise of that anything going well. So much that Netflix even had to put out a saying, a quote, saying please do not hurt yourself with this Bird Box challenge.
We don't know how this started and we appreciate the love, but boy and girl have just one wish for 2019, and it is that you not end up in a hospital due to memes. Now if your entertainment platform has to put out a PSA, a public service announcement to stop people from just being stupid, that should tell you what people are really up to nowadays. And you won't catch me doing no very much challenge, man. Blindfolding, not really my cup of tea.
Escalating that into wandering around outside for the sake of social media, damn, sharing my cup of tea either. So, uh, world, what are y'all up to right now? So unless you've been living under a rock, you know the government is currently shut down entering the third week of being shut down, actually, which means a lot of people in their families had an interesting holiday break as they, you know, have essentially had to go through the holidays with no pay. And it's pretty crazy to think that those in charge wanted to drag on possibly a lot longer all behind the premise of building a damn border wall.
It's really crazy to think about if you really go over it shouldn't shouldn't we be able to compromise in some sort of fashion to where the end result isn't people being out of paychecks having to pick up second jobs when they're already gainfully employed by the US government because the government shut down because we can't build a wall and won't provide 5.6 potential billion dollars worth of funding to begin building a $23 billion wall along the US border with Mexico. I think it's a bit outrageous, but these are the days of our lives and the times we live in where crazy shit like this seems to be almost normal. Unfortunate but true. So Democrats in control of the House of Representatives this week passed a bill to reopen the government without providing additional funding for the wall and have insisted that reopening the government should be contingent upon wall construction funds.
Really crazy to think that folks are still thinking it's a simple party line sort of issue where it should be a people issue looking at those that are really being affected like seriously. I was reading the news yesterday and you have TSA members calling in sick to work because they're basically picking up second jobs that will pay them versus doing their TSA jobs. And so you can see how that obviously during this sort of time of the year affects travel a lot if you cannot get through TSA in a speedy or expeditious sort of fashion. By the way, if you don't have TSA pre-check, I highly recommend investing and that did it last year was one of the best investments I made.
But again, if you don't have the adequate amount of TSA members potentially for all of these flights, domestic and international man, you can just imagine the sort of backlog that would create. So hopefully this government shutdown comes to an end sooner rather than later in the world can have some sort of normalcy from our leadership. In sports on tap today, we have a couple NFL wildcard games today kicking off first is the Los Angeles Chargers versus the Baltimore Ravens. The line is Baltimore by two and a half, but some of the football power indexes have the Chargers as the slight favorite in that sort of predictor.
If I was to get my personal thoughts, I'd like to see the Ravens and Lamar Jackson, the sensational last week of the first round, rookie quarterback at a playoff win. But playoff sometimes come down to experience and the Chargers and Phillip Rivers definitely have that. As my Broncos fan, there's no way in hell I'm rooting for the Chargers, but we're talking head over heart in this sort of situation. I think the Chargers pull the upset.
It should be a defensive struggle to a lead defense that's going at it for sure, but when it comes down to making the one or two plays, which QB and supporting cast do I think will be better at it. I'm thinking Phillip Rivers has the slight edge in that one. After that, we've got Eagles Bears and the line is Chicago by six and a half. And that should be no surprise.
The Bears are bringing in a stout, stout lead defense this year going up against the backup. Sensational backup though, Nick Foles leading the Philadelphia Eagles. But I don't think on the road, Nick Foles is really ready for Soldier Field and the test that that team is going to bring. Plus, if you can get to the Philadelphia Eagles secondary, you can definitely expose those guys as it's the weakest part of the defense.
Now, while they do have a stout front seven, I like Matt Nagy, the Chicago Bears head coach, his offensive schematics thus far. He's been really hiding Mitchell Trebiscu's weaknesses and only playing to the strengths, utilizing all those playmakers. They went out and got the off season. So definitely say go with the Bears in that one.
And the rapid up of the sports weekend ends on Monday with the college football championship. Clemson and Alabama meeting for the third time in four years. Alabama taking the first ballot and then to Sean Watson getting his revenge the second time around. This time, as Clemson's freshman sensation Trevor Lawrence trying to slay the Alabama Crimson Tide Beast in Diamond.
I hope he does it, but hard overhead. Head says I should go with Alabama. Nick Saban's a beat to a freshman quarterback in this championship moment as he also has two, a tongue of a lower who is a sensation. Definitely hope my Broncos are scouting that quarterback in the 2020 draft.
But alas, I definitely think that should be a good game to really cap off the sports weekend. Hope he goes down to the wire as they've been one score games in both of the previous matchups. I'd expect more of the same. In other entertainment news, we have the Warriors Re-Re highlight section.
Definitely been wondering where she's been. She's been conquering the world is what she's been doing since she released her last album, Anti-In 2016. She's been working on that Savage Fenty line, her multi-million dollar cosmetic company, Fenty Beauty, Collaboration with Puma. She's a very busy woman.
Definitely understand it showing the flex. You know what I'm saying? The business empire, the brand empire that she's built. But she did give a little tea saying there will be an album in 2019, so we'll definitely be looking for that.
Fellas, if you haven't already, definitely check out that Savage Fenty line of hers. Get your girl something nice. Trust me, she'll love it and you'll thank yourself for it. So that concludes the Hello 2019 episode 7 of the podcast.
