Episode 7 - Interview with Skye Wallace

from Graventown · host Graven

Friends - it's been a minute! But I'm back at the podcast helm to enliven your minds with a few red-hot-and-ready musician interviews in the magical hopper, and I can't wait to share them with you. I had the chance to chat with Skye Wallace a few nights after I saw her and her magical band perform a stellar show at the Bronson Centre in Ottawa. Skye Wallace is what happens when a trained singer with folk roots discovers punk rock in their youth and creates the rock & roll show you've always wanted. Wallace’s new self-titled album embodies rock-fire Canadiana. From living on BC’s west coast, to spending time at residencies from Norris Point, Newfoundland to Dawson City, Yukon, the Toronto-based artist has been inspired by every corner of the country. Having production on past albums with Jim Bryson and many other collaborators, Skye is a positive-fire-force to be reckoned with. You can buy the digital, cd and vinyl versions of the album on my bandcamp page, (which helps me greatly) but I understand that cash is tight all over the map, so you can also order a five dollar Geographics sticker. 5 beans! This album is really special to me (as my friends Melissa Payne and Charles Austin played all over it) and I hope you'll come along for the supersonic ride.
