Episode 70 - Animating Autism, with Dani Bowman

from Spectrumly Speaking · host Spectrumly Speaking

(32 minutes) In this episode, hosts Haley Moss and Dr. Lori Butts welcome Dani Bowman. Dani has worked professionally in the animation industry since age 14, premiering 8 award-winning animated shorts at San Diego Comic-Con each year. She uses her passions including animation to demonstrate to others on the autism spectrum that anything is possible and follow their dreams. Since age 15, Dani has led summer animation camps around the country, initially with Joey Travolta's Inclusion Films, and then expanding out on her own to teach to over 1000 youth with autism and other abilities. Dani graduated with a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Animation in 2018, and is currently working on getting a Master’s of Business Administration. The three discuss Dani’s history in animation, her creative process, how she teaches other neurodivergent people, and ways other people on the spectrum can succeed in following their dreams.
