Episode 70: Optimizing Your Health Through the Air You Breathe with Michael Rubino

from Live Authentically Podcast with Pamela Savino · host Pamela Savino

Take a deep breath. Now let it out. The average person does that 20,000 times in a single day. Today's guest is Michael Rubino, and he knows that better than anyone. He's the president of All American Restoration, and he has made it his mission to spread awareness about the importance of good air quality. Why Air Quality MattersMost of us spend a lot of time thinking about how we can live a healthy life. You might eat clean foods, ensure you're drinking enough water, meditate, jog and practice yoga. Despite all of your hard work, you still might not feel well. There could be an underlying reason for that.Michael has had clients who have gone to five or six doctors trying to discover why they're ill, only to find out that it's the poor air quality in their home that's making them sick. Often, it's mold that is causing poor air quality.  Mold can be incredibly toxic. Many people experience typical allergy symptoms like sneezing and itchy eyes, but mold can cause chronic fatigue and brain fog too. Is the Air in Your Home Making You Sick?Mold likes to lurk out of sight in basements, attics and HVAC systems, so how are you supposed to know if it's affecting your health?Michael recommends lifting the lid off of your toilet tank. If there's mold there, that's a good indication that there's mold somewhere else in your home. From there, you can hire a licensed environmental professional to inspect your home further. Depending on the inspection results, you can then hire a remediation company like Michael's to begin the process of improving your home's air quality.Ensuring that the air in your home is free from toxins is critical, particularly for people with health conditions that leave their immune system compromised as well as conditions like Mast Cell Activation Syndrome, Lyme disease and other autoimmune disorders.Completely healthy people can benefit from improving their home's air quality, too. Long-term exposure to poor air quality can cause severe health problems later in your life. The cost of fixing your home's air quality now might seem high, but it's likely to be lower than eventual medical costs. If you want to learn more, you can check out All American Restoration's website. They have a ton of great resources and advice available. For a more in-depth look at mold, how it affects your health and your remediation options, you can read Michael's recently published book called "The Mold Medic." It's available for purchase on Amazon.
