Episode 70: When Our Songs Become Irritation And Noise To God

(Amos 5:23; John 4:23-24) Our prayer and song to the Lord become ‘noise’ instead of ‘worship’ when we lose the desire to live right. God informed His people through prophet Amos in vs 23 of chapter 5 saying “ Take the noise of your songs away from Me [they are an irritation]! I shall not even listen to the melody of your harps.” ‭‭Amos‬ ‭5:23‬ ‭AMP‬ In retrospective, how is your desire to live right? How is my desire to live right? Do I, or do you long for godly living or do I live to satisfy my selfish needs? The truth is - God desires and longs for His people to truly worship Him in spirit and in truth. I love the way Message translation states it. “... it is who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That’s the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration.”” ‭‭John‬ ‭4:23-24MSG‬‬ Let’s Pray Thank You Lord for Your Word that corrects us. By the help of Your Holy Spirit, we receive fresh grace and strength to live to honour you all the days of our lives. Just like river flows with water, Your righteousness will flow to us and through us to all around us so that Your name will forever be glorified in Jesus’ name. Amen ‭
