Episode 72 - Never Let Me Go *Listener's Choice*

Carey Mulligan, Andrew Garfield and Keira Knightley are three of Britain's hottest young talents.  If I had to watch a film where the characters' vital organs get harvested and they die a tragically premature and squandered life, I'm glad to at least admire their pretty hair and teeth (well, not you Keira).  "Never Let Me Go" is a quasi sci-fi romantic drama based on the titular book (Mulligan's favorite piece of literature) and directed by music video enfant terrible Mark Romanek.  You know Andrew Garfield was thinking that beating heart in that Nine Inch Nails video could come in pretty handy in a pinch.  In all seriousness, this is a helluva melancholy flick.  It takes place in an alternate reality where people can live beyond 100 years, as long they aren't children.  For you see, life in this version of England is not all figgy pudding for our three A-list stars from across the pond. Returning listener Caity requested this film for Andrew and Phil and it elicits an impassioned response from all parties.  The gang spoke about the visual and musical beauty of "Never Let Me Go" and melted at the heartfelt scenes between Mulligan and Garfield.  Lastly, Caity revealed that he is the only reason she watches the new Spiderman movies.  Check out this podcast, yo.
