Episode #73: Mortal Engines

from Reel Film Nerds · host Drowning Nerd Productions

Merry almost Christmas everyone!  Today we have a review of a movie you should never see, Mortal Engines.  The guys don’t mess around and just get right into it with this review, this is a bad movie.  Topics today included the Mars TV show, Steve Carell, and Mike taking notes again. Mortal Engines is just a terrible movie.  The only redeeming part is the visual effects and the first 30 minutes that actually has a predator city chasing down another city.  Seriously that’s it in a movie based on predator cities one damn chase scene!  There is no character development at all.  The script poorly written, it comes off as a third movie in a trilogy when it’s the start of a new franchise?  Mortal Engines also rips off so many sci-fi and fantasy films including Star Wars that we lost count.  Mike flat out blasted this movie.  He really tore it apart more than usual.  He graciously gives Mortal Engines ½ a Reel out of 5.  Matt was very disappointed by this film.  He had very high hopes for it because it appears to be a very cool and fun world to tell stories in.  This first attempt failed miserably though.  He gives the film a more lenient score with 1.5 out of 5 Reels. Next week the guys keep the reviews coming!  They are both out watching as many of the new films hitting the theaters as possible.  Reviews next week include the critically acclaimed Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Robert Zemeckis’ Welcome to Marwen but they might toss in a few quick reviews to let you know what to see over your holiday break.  Chat with all of you next week and we hope you get lots of awesome movies for Christmas!              Thanks for your continued support of our podcast.  Without you our listeners, this podcast would not exist, seriously.  Anyways do us a favor and tell your friends and family about our fun little pod especially if you hate it!  Don’t forget to subscribe and listen to our sister podcasts Rogues Radio, Code 3 Podcast, The Blue Milk Podcast, and The Mile High Show.
