You've heard it discussed on the news, in school board meetings, in corporate board meetings, and on college campuses: Critical Race Theory. But did you know that CRT is born out of a broader "Critical Theory" which has been around for generations. In some countries, like France, its premises have largely been rejected for its divisiveness, yet there has been a movement to force its implementation into every facet of American society--from schools and universities to corporations and institutions. Some argue that it is a solution for the disparities in society. Others argue that while it is shrouded in the appearance of good--"equity for all", this also means equality of outcomes regardless of effort, which wreaks of Marxism and socialism. And they argue that instead of eradicating racism, it promotes it. We talk with fellow mother and education activist, Lindy Ford, who took her own deep dive into Critical Theory to understand its origins and premise.
