Episode 75 - Eldon, IA

In 1930, painter Grant Wood was visiting the small town of Eldon, Iowa when a plain white farmhouse stopped him — specifically its tall, narrow Carpenter Gothic window. He sketched it on the spot, then added two figures back in his studio: not the actual homeowners, but his own sister and his dentist, posing as father and daughter. He called it American Gothic. The real house is still standing, exactly where he found it.
