Episode 75 - Focus
from Why Business Teams Fail & How to Avoid It : Strong Leadership Skills For Employee Engagement & High Performance · host Rich Allen
The Power of FOCUS Business owners today are crazy busy! If you’re like most around you, you’ve got at least a dozen important goals or tasks that you’re working on. You’ve probably got 5 or 6 things that are critical and need to get done right away – but each one of them takes concentrated time and effort to do your best work. So why is it so hard to FOCUS your attention on just one thing at a time? Many people are proud to claim that they can “multi-task” well, but studies have proven that those who multi-task to get things done are less productive than someone who uses marijuana and is “high” or “stoned”! Here’s Your Net Worth Tip of the Day Rather than continue to work on multiple priorities at the same time, I recommend you apply FOCUS to your #1 priority. Here’s a simple acrostic you can put on a sticky note and put it where you will see it daily: FOCUS = FOLLOW ONE COURSE UNTIL SUCCESS I have been applying this principle for the past year or so and as a result I have achieved far more this past 12 months than I have in any other period of time. I am certain that you would see similar results if you just set your #1 priority and made the decision to FOCUS – Follow One Course Until Success! Only then can you move on to your next big goal! Take a 30-Day Challenge: 1) Identify the #1 priority that would move your business forward right now. 2) Set everything else aside – no matter what – and FOCUS on getting that #1 priority completed. 3) Go to Step #1 above and repeat! You’ll be amazed at how productive you will become! Good Luck.
