We kick things off with a new duck recipe. If it’s my cooking, then there’s a greater than 50% chance it’s going to be some kind of Tex/Mex preparation. We used the blue wing teal hearts from Henry and I’s September teal hunt on the Texas coast. The Teal Heart Enchiladas didn’t disappoint! I tried the Silverado, I tried the F-150, both of them broke my heart. The Ford to a lesser degree but if I would have kept it, it would have likely cost me as much to keep it on the road as the Chevy did. I looked at the reliable ol’ Tundras but even they have had issues in the past 3 years since switching from the 5.7L V8 to the twin turbo V6 post 2021. Maybe it’s not the trucks fault, maybe it’s a lift kit and big tires that they ultimately aren’t designed for. Either way, I ended up going a different direction in hopes of making it past 100,000 miles without issue this time. We will see how the RAM 2500 performs as both my daily driver and something that gets beat up off road at the deer lease etc. Thanks to David and the team over at Lewisville Autoplex for a seamless, hassle free experience. Fingers crossed at this point LOL. (She’s a beaut, Clark!) Then we spend the majority of today’s show visiting with longtime listener and wildlife biologist Cole Fagen. He recently wrapped up a unique once in a lifetime elk hunt in Oklahoma. The Sooner State isn’t traditionally associated with elk hunting, but they do have a healthy herd due to a century’s worth of conservation efforts. Cole talks about how he drew the coveted tag, how the state facilitated the hunt and of course we get the details on how the hunt played out. We then talk archery whitetails and prescribed burns as a habitat improvement technique with the wildlife biologist and habitat expert.
