Episode 76 - Eli Lewis-Lycett - The Local Mythstorian

My guest for this episode is Eli Lewis-Lycett. Eli is a historian, researcher and writer from the Northwest Midlands of England who in 2020 started the Local Mythstorian project, a blog in which he delves into the legends and history of that area, which covers parts of Cheshire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. In his research he digs deep into historical records to find the connections between fact and myth, and how those things have influenced each other and been preserved through the local communities that retain a memory of events from the deep past. In the interview we talk about his approach in more detail, and some examples of where it has yielded fascinating results. Headless Horsemen, Arthurian legends and teleporting witches all feature in what was a really fun conversation.
