Episode 78: The River Road Fellowship

from Not Today · host Not Today

In the late 90s, Lindsay Tornambe's family moved to Minnesota to be on a farm that was owned and run by the River Road Fellowship. The group was an extreme religious cult led by Victor Barnard, who had declared himself to be Jesus in the flesh. Things were more or less alright until Victor chose 10 first born girls to be his "maidens", including 13 year-old Lindsay and 12 year old Jess Schweiss. The maidens would live with Victor, tend to his every need, and abide by his strict rules.  The abusive arrangement was allowed and even celebrated by their parents. It would continue for over 10 years because of how brainwashed the cult members had become.
