Episode 8: Daniel Penny Trial, Mass Shooting in Maine & NYPD kills 7-Year-Old Boy

This is our first episode with Rudy, organizer with We The People and founder of BlackSky (https://bsky.app/profile/rudyfraser.com), as our third host! Welcome back to the show to stay!In our current events discussion we start off with preparing for Daniel Penny’s upcoming murder trial for choking Jordan Neely to death on a subway car in NYC earlier this year. Our hosts shed light on a transphobic assault at a State Island deli, and offer their perspective on yet another mass shooting in the United States– this time in Lewiston, Maine. They reflect on the tragic story of Leonard Allen Cure, murdered by police during a traffic stop after being freed from sixteen years of wrongful imprisonment. Finally, Rudy leads a discussion on a tech billionaire who called socialism and collectivism “The Enemy” to techno optimism– why he is wrong and why it matters.Follow & watch the episode on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRu0pAefHIs We The People NYC (@wethepeople_nyc on Instagram) runs a hot food & clothes distro every Thursday @ 1PM on the corner of Fulton & Nostrand in Bed-Stuy.
