Episode 8. Hay Fever, the Bane of Japanese Spring

Everybody living in Japan will be familiar with Hay Fever. Most likely, you know someone or many people who suffer from this allergy. Caused mostly by pollen from cedar and cypress trees, this allergy had not always existed in Japan. After the war, the government was desperate to restore the forests that were destroyed during the war. Demands for housing and construction increased, and so the government introduced a reforestation policy.
