This episode is the story of a random hiker being found dead in the Everglades and how it took two years to actually identify him. Vance Rodriguez up and left a career as a successful software engineer to explore the Appalachian Trail and the Florida Trail. He went completely off the grid. He was a true loaner, estranged from his family and seemingly plagued with undiagnosed (?) mental health issues no one ever reported the man missing. It took dogged detective work on the part of the Collier County FL Sheriffs office and advances in tracking familial DNA to finally identify the man initially only known as 'Mostly Harmless'
