Vance Rodriguez up and left a career as a successful software engineer to explore the Appalachian Trail and the Florida Trail. He went completely off the grid. He was a true loaner, estranged from his family and seemingly plagued with undiagnosed (?) mental health issues no one ever reported the man missing.
