Episode 8: The Argument from Contingency, Part 2 (January 28, 2019)

In this episode of Why Catholicism is True, Pat Flynn begins to develop the famous argument from contingency for the existence of God. Everything that exists has an explanation for its existence, either in an external condition or necessity of its own being. If the universe has an explanation for its existence, that explanation is God. The universe exists. Part 1 is an overview of the argument and brief defense, part 2 is a more detailed defense of premise 1 which is a modest form of the principle of sufficient reason. (January 28, 2019)
