Episode 8: The Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee: What parents need to know & meet the Public Chair

Dr. Sylvia Fogel is a psychiatrist, advocate, and educator whose work bridges systems biology with lived family experience to advance care for individuals with autism and co-occurring medical conditions. Dr. Fogel’s clinical and advocacy work emphasizes integrating systems biology principles into the care and support of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with particular attention to regressive autism, more severe presentations, and the identification and treatment of co-occurring neuroimmune and medical conditions. She collaborates with researchers, clinicians, and advocates to advance interdisciplinary, biologically informed approaches to autism care and policy through her work with the Autism Innovation Coalition. She currently maintains a voluntary academic affiliation with Harvard Medical School and is involved in medical education at the Massachusetts General Hospital–McLean Psychiatry Residency Program. Dr. Fogel is also the parent of a child with profound autism and Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS), providing firsthand insight into the complex challenges faced by individuals and families living with ASD and related neuroimmune and medical conditions.
