Episode 8 - Transitions Go to the Movies

This week I wanted to do something different – I wanted to go against the grain. I’ve been talking the past several weeks about transitions and how you know you’re in transition and even guests to help illustrate Thriving in the Transition. This week we wanted to have some fun and talk about movies.  I am joined, again, by Steve Reimann (Instagram: @bow_tie_ginger; E-mail: [email protected]). We wanted to use movies to help illustrate what I’ve been saying for all these weeks. Transitions are woven into the fabric of pop culture. Whether through songs, art, books and magazines – transitions are unavoidable. There is no medium more popular or impactful than movies. They depict transitions in myriad ways. In fact, there are as many types of transitions in movies as there are personalities of people going through transitions. Our hope is that you find a movie that resonates with your and that you get a bit of insight into your own personal transition. What you can expect is for us to take turns with the movies on our lists – starting with #5 moving up though #1. For each movie we will give you: The Title of the Movie The Year The Actors A movie summary or synopsis Why we picked it A WIIFM or what you can expect to the movie and/or how transitions are represented in that movie I think it’s safe to say that we chose movies based on a few things: Can’t be JUST entertaining Can’t be JUST motivational Has to be accessible to a broad range of audiences – again, we have more in common than we do in difference we’re we’ll be taking about breadth, depth and variety of transitions Has to have a CLEAR take-away – meaning you don’t need an interpreter to tell you what the point was Let us know what movies resonated with you!
