Episode 80: Recovery from Food Addiction, Part 1 with Dr. Rhona Epstein

from Living Wholehearted Podcast With Jeff and Terra · host Terra & Jeff Mattson - Living Wholehearted

Body image issues are common among both men and women. Eating disorders and food addiction are on the rise. In this episode (part one of two), Dr. Rhona shares her story and explains the key symptoms of the controversial “food addiction” and why many of us need to rethink how we are looking at food and the recovery process. This is an episode for anyone who is raising a child, facing addiction in their own story, or leading those who are vulnerable to this epidemic.   Dr. Rhona Epstein began her recovery journey at seventeen years old after battling binge eating and bulimia from childhood. Affected so deeply by the recovery process, she was determined to devote the rest of her life to helping others out of the same insanity with food abuse and weight obsession.   Her goal was simple: to learn from chemical dependency treatment practices, and apply those ideas to treating addictive eating issues. She holds a doctorate in clinical psychology and her dissertation, Binge-Eating Disorder and the Twelve-Steps, focused on understanding the strategies commonly relied upon by successfully recovering individuals. Since 1994, Rhona has provided individual, couples, family, and group psychotherapy in Paoli, Pennsylvania. She is the author of three books: Food Triggers: End Your Cravings; Eat Well & Live Better; Satisfied: A 90-Day Spiritual Journey Toward Food Freedom; and The Satisfied Workbook.   Learn more about Dr. Rhona and find her resources at drrhona.com.   Living Wholehearted is celebrating their 10 YEAR anniversary this May!!!
