What does the fall waterfowl flight look like based off the 2025 USFWS Waterfowl Survey? Ducks Unlimited’s David Schuessler makes his return to show this week. We take a look at recent trends in various duck species populations, some new regulatory changes, where to find a ruddy duck, the Prairie Pothole Region’s current status and what that means for the upcoming nesting season, family heirloom shotguns, and much more before touching on “ Into the Vault “. Into the Vault, of course, is Duck’s Unlimited’s annual online fundraising auction. All the items donated by folks who wanted to help support DU’s conservation initiative. The interesting thing, however, is where all these unique collectible items come from (thank God, the Boomer Generation were hard core collectors) but as they age out and die off, what happens to all their stuff? Turns out alot of their children simply don’t want their collections of firearms, wooden decoys, wildlife art, and memorabilia etc. That’s where Into the Vault comes into play and is responsible for finding all these cool items a 2nd home with someone who appreciates them. (Your chance to bid on collectibles like previous DU Guns of the Year among other things) Next, we check in with wildlife artist Bria Overstreet of Santa Fe, Texas. We talk about the importance of family time in the outdoors, before getting into her art. Bria originally sent me message on Instagram of a wild boar and a hog dog squaring off and I was immediately interested in her work. We since decided to give away that painting as well as one of a South Texas nilgai. That’s right, two Bria Overstreet original paintings that we are just giving away to two listeners. (For info on how to enter to win please check out my Instagram page). You can follow Bria on Instagram at @B.ost_gallery .
