Rebekah Rogers, a high-achieving standardized test taker with a perfect ACT score of 36 and a top 10% SAT score, embarked on a teaching career with a test prep company. Her commitment to education deepened during her time at Spelman College in Atlanta, where she earned a full-ride scholarship. While teaching, Rebekah recognized the need for greater cultural competency in standardized test materials. Subsequently, she excelled on her first MCAT attempt, placing in the top 10%, and decided to pursue medical school. Yet, during her medical education, Rebekah identified a critical gap in patient understanding of science, hindering informed medical decision-making. Driven by a passion to prevent disease and enhance patient quality of life, she left medical school and founded The Black Roots. Rebekah's tutoring approach focuses on culturally relevant teaching within a hands-on learning framework. She collaborates with individuals, small groups, and universities to prepare students for careers in medicine. In addition, she runs a YouTube channel (youtube.com/@theblackroots) where she reviews topics commonly tested in college and on the MCAT.
