Episode 82: Review of 1989-90 Season Part 1 the Return of Sven Goran Eriksson

Episode 82 is the much await first part of the season 2 finale of Mister Benfica. It's a look back at the last time Benfica brought back a manager who had had previous success at the club and an incumbent president was desperate to do anything for re-election. Fernando Santos manages to steal Sven away from Fiorentina and some how demote Toni to assistant and still come away with 82% of the votes in that year's election. The parallels are fascinating despite the the 30 years in between the season that just ended and the one I'm reviewing in this project. Episode 82 covers the 1989-90  season from the preseason in August to the disappointing performance against Boavista on New Year's Eve-Eve as the club ring in the new decade of the 90's by closing their historic decade of the 80's in disappoing fashion.
