Welcome to the Tweed Trends Podcast. Hey, Evette, what's trending today? Hey, I'm Evette, hey girl. And you are tuned in to Tweed Trends.

It's the quickest way to find out what's trending today. Hey guys, welcome to another episode of Tweed Trends. Today's episode title is Big Beach Pollution. Let's get started.

Hashtag beaches. I'm sure you've already heard about the 17-year-old who got hookworms at the beach in Florida. Yeah, so him and his church group, they went just having a good old time out on the beach in Florida. And they buried him in the sand.

And guess what? The sand was contaminated. And that's how he got the hookworms. But do you know how sand gets contaminated?

Their fecal matter, yuck. Like cats or some other animals or even people. Somebody, something, has defecated out there in the sand at the beach. And that's how this young man got hookworms.

And he wasn't the only one in his group. There were a couple others, but he got it so bad. But that's not even why I'm talking about beaches. Did you also hear about people getting flesh eating bacteria from being at the beach?

Oh my gosh. I'm like the last person that needs to hear about something like this, because I'll probably never go to the beach for like, I don't know, a couple of years just thinking about this. But yeah. And the whole thing is, because flesh eating bacteria is so rare, like many physicians will never see somebody who has it or maybe one in their entire career.

So because of this, it gets misdiagnosed pretty often, which is bad because it doesn't happen that often. But when it does, they don't know what to think of it as. So they start calling it other stuff. But so now the flesh eating bacteria, it's caused by just pretty much any old kind of bacteria.

There's no special bacteria. It's not like the fecal matter in the sand. This is just anything. And it gets in through abrasions.

So you get cut or something out of the beach. And if there are the right types of bacteria in the right amounts, you can end up with flesh eating bacteria. Oh my gosh. But guess what?

You can get around it. You can beat this thing. Because basically what it does is it gets under your skin, between your skin and your muscle. And then once it gets in there, it's fast moving because it loves moist places.

And it can be deadly. Yeah. You can literally die. Or you can lose your limbs because it'll spread fast through your body.

How can you protect yourself? Prompt wound care. So when you go swimming next time, take these things. A bottle of water, antibacterial soap, hydrogen peroxide, or rubbing alcohol, and waterproof bandage.

Now, the waterproof band just is not for if you get cut while you're out there. That's in case you have a cut before you go, cover it up. Or just don't go in the water. Because you don't want anything getting into your open source.

But the other stuff, clear off any sand or whatever that may have gotten into it, rinse it, wash it with the antibacterial soap, rinse it again, put your either peroxide or your rubbing alcohol on it, and then pretty much stay out of the water from there. OK? This is me helping you not to get a flesh eating bacteria. Pollution.

So I was listening to a little talk from Dr. Jennifer Holmgren. She's a CEO of LANS Attack, which is a bioprocessing facility that can convert carbon waste gases into usable fuels and chemicals. And as she was saying that she was saying that this technology would be like taking 700 million cars off of the road simply by taking that carbon waste and turning it into something that's usable.

And I'm just like, I can't even picture that in my head. Because she said 700 million. She didn't say like 700. I can picture 700 cars in my head.

I can't picture 700 million. Like, whoa. And so get this, though. So LANS Attack is partnering with Virgin Atlantic.

You know what that is? Airplane people? Yeah. They hope that in the next couple of months they will be flying a plane using the fuel that they've created from carbon waste.

So I'm definitely going to keep you up with the date on this one here. Because if this happens, I mean, man, taking something like pollution out of the atmosphere and turning it into something usable, that's just awesome. Hashtag Big Mac. Well, it's been 50 years and the Big Mac is still here.

But it comes out of time that McDonald's is struggling to hold on to its customers as well as its stores. Luckily, the Golden Arch is still has a massive global reach. Because it seems like everybody loves the cheeseburgers, the chicken nuggets, and definitely the French fries. But now back to the Big Mac.

Back in 67, Jim Delgotti introduced this sandwich at his franchise. And it did so well there that the following year, they're like, you know what? Let's add this to our national menu. And hence, the Big Mac became a thing.

But there are other things that came from these franchises as well, such as Folio Fish, Egg McMuffin, Apple Pie. Yes, you remember when it used to be deep fried? Now they bake it. Back when they used to fry those things, I used to get them all the time.

Oh, and I'm sorry. And the shamrock shake. That came from a franchise too. But it seems that the Big Mac is a little outdated when you have places like Shake Shack and Five Guys that offer you burgers that seem to just make the Big Mac.

Seems like it's just something in the shadows. Like, oh, who wants a Big Mac when you can get all this? But anyway, to try to work against that, Big Mac is going to do what they normally do. They're going to run their promotions.

They're designated to introduce people to the Big Mac. Because you know, millennials, how many of them have had a Big Mac? I mean, Thinkback, 84. You remember Summer Olympics?

I think everybody in the world had a Big Mac that year. Because when the USA won, you won. And oh my gosh, I know I ate again as Big Mac that year. I don't know about you.

But I don't know. Maybe I'm telling my age. I was a kid. OK, wait.

Back to what I was saying now. So McDonald's is trying to stay relevant by doing other things. But it is not looking at changing this Big Mac. They're like, it's been doing well for 50 years.

And hopefully it'll continue to do well for the next 50 years. But hey, guess what? McDonald's? You got to do better.

Because I don't know if you guys heard about the pregnant Canadian lady whose latte had cleaning agents in it. So it's cool to know that McDonald's, they clean their machines. But you got to remember to take the cleaning stuff off and put the milk back on. Because that was what happened.

But you know, besides that, I think everybody should find at least one day to test out two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on that sesame seed bun. All right, guys. Thanks for joining me today. Give me a favor.

Head on over to Twitter and follow me at hevet. That's at h-e-v-e-t-e. Or just look for the hashtag tweet trends. Before I go, just to let you know, two things.

Today is National Coloring Book Day and National Ice Cream Sandwich Day. So how about this? Go grab an ice cream sandwich from the grocery store and enjoy it. But get a box and share.

OK? And then as far as the coloring book goes, go to the Dollar Tree or something. Go gang of coloring books and just go spread the love. Go to a playground or something and hand out the coloring books to all the little kids and watch your little eyes light up.

All right, guys. Well, that's it for today. I'll see you tomorrow. Bye.
