What is the purpose of a guard? A guard keeps watch for the enemy. He understands that the enemy is near, intent on his destruction. A good guard knows that the enemy could attack at any moment. The guard is posted to protect the camp, sounding the alarm, and giving the call to arms when the enemy approaches.
