What's up everyone? Welcome back to the Daily P-Fab. This is episode 86 for Thursday June 28th, 2018 Times now 854 p.m. Here on the East Coast and I am just back from shooting another night of protests in East Pittsburgh And it has been an absolutely crazy 24 hours in the case of Antoine Rose and the police officer that shot and killed him About a week and a half ago and so pretty much what happened yesterday was The district attorney in Pittsburgh finally indicted the officer charged him with criminal homicide The officer gets arrested mugshot plastered all over the internet all over all of the media outlets social media pages But then the judge grants the police officer a $250,000 unsecured bond which means the officer got to go home and he didn't have to pay a penny out of his pocket Okay, and from what I've read and what I've heard from all the other media Reporters that have covered hundreds if not thousands of criminal homicide cases once you get smacked with criminal homicide You don't get bail period, but this guy did and And then yesterday the district attorney Stevens a pallet did this big press conference and he came out and was pretty straightforward and Lambasted this police officer like you could not believe he read the criminal complaint or sections of the criminal complaint during the press conference I did read the full criminal complaint because it's online and I'll be honest with you It's kind of changed my thinking a little bit about this But again, I'm not going to turn this into a how I feel about it Situation, but I just kind of want to stick with the facts of what's happening because it's truly blowing my mind right now So the DA of Pittsburgh is absolutely just going nuts And saying that you know this officer had no right to shoot him This officer does not get to use the excuse of that he was fearful of his life even though He just pulled over a car riddled with bullet holes that was just involved in a drive-by shooting 11 minutes earlier and I mean like I couldn't believe it like I was almost a little bit appalled by some of the things that this guy was saying on TV he was calling out the medical examiner in the coroner's office I mean it was it was tough to watch and then today Dr.
Sarah Wieck the famous You know corner that is world renowned for his work has his own press conference and calls out the district attorney and saying that his intentions Are politically motivated and the only reason they're indicting him is to put an end to the protests and you know To make this community of protesters happy so that they stop protesting and you know challenge this guy to a debate to raise money for This kid's you know legal expenses for the family for the lawyer I mean it was like watching a freakin circus unfold on TV and then tonight I'm at the protest in East Pittsburgh doing more photography I end up leaving and I get home and I'm watching some of it on a couple of the reporters that I follow On Twitter and they're now saying that another mayor from Braddock John Federman Who's I think running to be a senator came out and tried to intermediate between the police and the protesters that didn't work And then this is what has me just astonished The mayor of the city of Pittsburgh Bill Paduto shows up at the protest and tells the protesters that he's going to write a letter and Contact the judge and ask the judge to impose a higher bail on this officer So that he gets re-arrested and goes to jail and to me It's absolutely unprecedented one of you ever heard of a city mayor getting involved at this level in a criminal Charge or a criminal case or a judicial. I don't know what I'm trying to say, but like I it's it's absolutely unprecedented to me I mean this is like all the makings. This is the perfect recipe for the next big Either Hollywood movie or that crime show or 48 hours or whatever. It's called in a few years This is I mean it has all the makings of it It's just it's unprecedented that you got the DA going at it with the coroner You got the coroner going at it with the DA and you have Two different mayors showing up and then finally the city mayor saying he's gonna contact the judge personally and ask him to raise the bill Like I don't even know if that's even ethical.
I don't know if that's an ethics commission violation I don't know if it's legal. I don't know, but to me it just it just sounds all kinds of all kinds of wrong I mean, it's it's like I said, I keep saying the word. It's unprecedented I've never I've never seen this before anywhere or heard about it anywhere and it's again It's happening right here in Pittsburgh ladies and gentlemen and again. It's just kind of crazy I think this was like the fifth fifth time now.
I've been out Trying to document this from photojournalist perspective and try to preserve and capture these moments in time And again, I just I can't believe this is happening in in Pittsburgh right now all over all over Allegheny County They actually went to the protesters actually went to this police officer's house last night in Verona and Protested all night right in front of this guy's house. I mean, this is the level thankfully This has all been civil protesting. It's been very peaceful. None of it's gotten violent yet.
I hope and pray it doesn't get violent I don't want to see anyone get hurt over this. I don't want to see any loss of life or people injured or loss of infrastructure or businesses get damaged or I just don't want to see any of it and it's it's to the point of crazy and it just seems like these politicians are now sticking their nose into the criminal and the judiciary system. I don't even know if I'm saying that right the judicial system and Just trying to appease these people to make them stop protesting. I don't know.
It's It's very frustrating To watch this all unfold. I'll be very honest with you all and it's kind of crazy. So that's it I'm gonna add more pictures from tonight's Protests, so that's what I'm gonna do. Those are my thoughts in this last 24 hours again.
If you google this case, you can read about it all All night long. It's it's absolutely unbelievable and make sure you read the criminal complaint. It's online. You can find it 412-701-4323 is my show calling number Paul family to podcast.com and as always thanks for listening
