In this episode, Rachel visits with the writer Joe Wilkins, an eastern Montana ranch-raised writer and teacher. Rachel reached out to Wilkins after reading The Entire Sky. Then, after their interview, she finished Fall Back Down When I Die. That one is now in her top three all time favorites, alongside Kent Haruf's Plainsong. Wilkins' voice carries in it echoes of Haruf in all the best ways. Not everyone can write rural, but Wilkins can and does incredibly well.
