Episode 9: Dr. Lisa M. DiBartolomeo with a Dispatch from West Virginia Univeristy

Welcome back to episode #9 of Yeah, I Got an F#%*ing Job with a Liberal Arts Degree. Jeff Crane, student of the liberal arts, environmental historian, and higher education administrator for the past 11 years, hosts a wide range of guests whose  experiences as students of the liberal arts have shaped their lives in school, as professionals, and in their lives outside of their careers. Dr. Lisa M. DiBartolomeo teaches Russian Studies and Slavic and East European Studies at West Virginia University. Throughout her tenure at the University, she has also held several leadership positions. Early this summer, she found out that her program was being cut by the administration, along with several other programs, in the humanities and beyond. The cuts made at WVU have been national news for months, causing upheaval and distress for faculty and staff who are losing their jobs and community. The events at WVU have also been seen as a potential sign of what may be to come for other humanities programs across the country. We are grateful to Dr. DiBartolomeo for coming on the show and sharing her experience and thoughts during this painful time of overwhelm.
