Activism with the American Indian Movement at Wounded Knee connected her with medicine people and mystical events, eventually leading her to mentors in metaphysics and remote healing.Beginning in 1990, she taught gang members as a professor before moving on to colleges with at-risk students. Over 15 years, she engaged in ACA 12-step work and inner-child healing, evolving into Internal Family Systems.
