Episode 9: Elliott Smith

from Sinister Hosted by Rosie O'Donoghue

Hello and welcome to Sinister the true crime podcast where we discuss the nitty gritty details of the world’s most notorious crimes and general mysteries. In today's episode we're talking about the tragic, mysterious death of indie rockstar Elliott Smith. In October 2003, Elliott was found with a knife in his chest by his girlfriend, Jennifer Chiba, in their Los Angeles apartment. With a history of supposed suicidal ideations and a tracklist of music with depressing tones, the idea of this being a suicide seemed likely enough for police to avoid all investigation. The coroner classed it as potentially suspicious and deemed the mode of death as undetermined. no drugs or alcohol were found in Elliotts system and he had an arrange of events coming up to live for. Was this just an act Elliott had wanted to do or did someone else decide to kill Elliott and blame a suicide on the rockstar who had lyrics indicating some form of desire to die? The case remains undetermined to this day, but let us discuss our theories anyway. I hope you enjoy this episode. x Rosie O'Donoghue ________ Sinister socials: tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@sinister.podcast8 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sinister.podcast/ ________ Music: Epic Unease by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Source: http://incompetech.com/music/royalty-free/index.html?isrc=USUAN1100406 Artist: http://incompetech.com/

She didn’t know why — until she got a letter in the mail telling her that some of the spinal hardware in her back might be counterfeit. Not sterile. Not FDA approved. Made in a machine shop in Temecula, California. Doctor Billions tells the story of the billion-dollar healthcare fraud that turned thousands of patients into unwitting cogs in a scheme involving dozens of doctors, lawyers and healthcare professionals across the country. At the center of one of the nation's largest healthcare frauds was an elusive man named Michael Drobot. His ambition to turn a Long Beach hospital into a destination for back surgeons was at the expense of thousands of patients blind to what was happening behind the scenes. One whistleblower told me: “I'm looking at the surgery board for tomorrow going, 'These people are f***ed.'” Doctor Billions is hosted b Explicit They Walk Among Us - UK True Crime They Walk Among Us They Walk Among Us is an award-winning weekly UK true crime podcast covering a broad range of cases from the sinister to the surreal.
